7. The possession disparity finally caught up to Harvard​

Perhaps the fright inside the JMA Wireless Dome was a bit of fool’s gold. A 7-2 halftime lead came with the shots taken even between the Orange and Crimson and a 9-3 edge on face-offs for the Orange. The key stat was Syracuse’s 3-of-6 clearing and only one save to Harvard’s four.

Harvard did everything it could to manufacture those possessions, and their season should be celebrated for being so terrorizing on the ride and after the face-off to do so. But that’s tough to sustain, and eventually Syracuse overcame, clearing perfectly in the second half and making the face-off disparity even wider.

It’s nearly impossible to win in the Dome without those possessions; Harvard showed it can happen once, but twice in a year was just a bridge too far.

Clearing perfectly in the 2nd half gives me some optimism, but I also would like us to be able to bring it out of the gate this week instead of having to play catch up (obviously). Seeing adjustments made at halftime is encouraging though. It needs to be noted and credit given where it's due.
