Interesting Would you be willing...

I'd take the cash. I seem to care less and less about sports as I get older. I could do a lot with 30 mil.
Right. With money like that, during each postseason, you could distract yourself with a lavish international vacation and not even think about playoffs. Playoffs? Y-y-y-you’re talkin’ about playoffs? No me interesa/Ça ne m'intéresse pas./Non mi interessa/Não me interessa.

Don't take this as a personal attack, because it's really a general comment. But, some people have no appreciation for hugely successful things. Like Taylor Swift, like Wegmans, like Jim Boeheim.
I don't understand what that means? Wegman's is a pretty universally appreciated grocery chain. Jim Boeheim is and was extremely appreciated nationwide.

Taylor Swift is the epitome of capitalism, stepping on others, and overindulgence in this country.

You must have missed this thread about Wegman's. All you have to do is read the first page. You would think they would be universally appreciated, but not in Syracuse.

And don't get me started about Boeheim. Before Melo, JAB had many detractors feeling he was very overrated and couldn't win big games. After Melo, a lot of people felt he was too old, should retire, that he was a whiner and complained a lot. The NCAA issues never helped, and his haters bring up about what happened with the car accident, even though it wasn't his fault. They don't care he won 1100 games.

But Wegman’s is overrated and overpriced and I do not know anything about car accidents, but without Melo …

I don’t understand. Are we supposed to all/universally like everything that is “hugely successful?” Everyone has different criteria for what “success” is, for one thing. And then there’s still the matter of personal tastes. Thirdly, those three things are the ‘same.’ But, take Taylor Swift, for example. What does an “appreciation” mean? I will acknowledge that she’s hugely successful. Yet, I don’t like any of the music I’ve ever heard from her, which is not a lot, and I couldn’t identify more than one of her songs if I heard them blindly. Am I supposed to respect her because hundreds millions of other people like her? Doesn’t work that way.

Boeheim? A reasonable person can make pro- and con arguments on the merits of his career. And no matter where you fall on the spectrum of “appreciation,” it’s lunacy to assert that everyone else should feel the same way.

Wegmans. The one time I ever saw Boeheim other than on the Carrier Dome court in my four years was in the parking lot of Wegmans…..

Respectfully, saying one doesn’t like her music is different then saying she’s talentless.

I don't know any of her songs, but I know how many she has sold. And she is only 35 years old. She is a money making machine.

And yet, a lot of people despise her. It has to be somewhat because of jealousy.

But, before someone comments to keep this thread on track, I think 100% of us would agree that if someone gave us $30 million if we never listened to anymore Taylor Swift songs, or to never shop at Wegman's again, our mouths would open before they could finish their question. Hit me with that big check.

people in CNY have spoiled by wegmans. when you live elsewhere and deal with awful grocery stores and long lines, you have a better appreciation for it. I think the new wegmans in Norwalk CT is too small (by typical Wegmans standards) but folks around here still love it. It's all about perspective. It's a beautiful store, just a little smaller than their average store so you don't get quite the same selection of goods.

Unequivocally, yes. I'd do it for 1M. I love sports (and my teams), but I could certainly keep busy during the playoffs/post-season. Not like I'd be giving up much with SU, as it is now, anyway.

The amount of concerts I could attend with 30m would make up for the loss of sports. Plus there's never a loser at a show. Just euphoria the whole time.

No need for a postseason run when you can just follow Phish around for a month.
“Whatever you do, take care of your shoes”

Although with 30m it’s not a concern!

I fully agree. I didn’t say any such thing.
But there still remains a set of large gaps between Talentless — Talented — Talented in a manner that garners a person’s respect.

To me Jim was a great coach who didn't realize when it was time to leave. Unfortunately that happens a lot with the great coaches, they never realize when it's time to leave. Unless they happen to have someone close enough to them to make them understand it's time to go.

It's not jealousy.

It's the climate pollution of her private jets, the poisoning of her teenage fans minds with overconsumption, ruining the vinyl industry for indie musicians, and now, other problematic tropes. Search social media for her shots at Kelce's exes and her SS necklace.

We should not be elevating billionaires as heroes. They are the furthest thing from it.

Yeah, it’s interesting some people only have a problem with billionaires when they’re old white guys. For everyone else, being a billionaire is completely fine.

Either being a billionaire is unethical, or it’s not.
