Class of 2020 Invitees/Visitors for Junior Day 1/19/2019

Nathan Carter looks pretty jacked...he is a rb? He must 2 way for his high school. Is he lb on D?

Curious, uninformed minds want to know about the nature of these visits:

I presume these visits don't count as OVs. So who's footing the bill, if indeed there's a bill to foot?
Do recruits' families fly or drive here on their own dime?
Is it one day only hence the name "Junior Day?"
Is there an assigned chaperone or other protocols on these visits?

They are unofficial visits which only last the day. They are usually for Juniors or Sophomores. They pay their own way.
It's a way for many of these kids to see the facilities/campus and meet coaches face to face for the first time
as the NCAA recruiting restrictions don't allow off campus contact at this stage of recruiting.
Kids usually come with a parent or HS coach.
The activities seem to include a tour of the facilities, photo shoots, chatting with coaches and a BB game. And then sometimes it includes the sit down with Dino and an offer.

Good way to personally invite some kids up to the summer camp so they can get a better look at them too. We have seen plenty of offers come after camps.

Evaluation at camp before offering.

Thank you CL.

As the father of a Div ! athlete in another sport I can report Junior day is a chance for the athlete and family to get to know the University and the coaches. I went to two junior days Cornell and Army. Both were very impressive. Cornell had a University admininstrator report on the various programs Cornell offered. Army did pretty much the same. Both furnished lunch. Now the schools can't pay for lunch so what they do is place a large glass bowl at the door and you're supposd to put $10 in for each person eating lunch. They don't care if you pay or not. People got a chance to mingle with the coaches and other families and have their questions answered
