Have to do what's best for the future. Feel awful for the kid, but it's a risk of the game.

Cutler is trying to come back next year. Personally I dont like the offense's use of the fullback. Have a quarterback who can't or is not allowed to run and a fullback who never gets the ball, so we are playing 9 on 11.

Smith will wind up playing fullback. He runs like a fullback, and he certainly has the size.

But we're in serious needs of backs.

I can't believe there wasn't a higher priority placed on that position for this class.

Fullbacks aren't as easy to find these days. How many kids want to play that position? Maybe it's time to let fate tell you that SU should probably go to something more wide open. I hate the idea of going to a walk on to start just because you think you need to fill that spot.

Having said that, I see people wanting to move Smith to FB. Why not Moore?

If you watch Moore's high school video there are a few shots of him acting as a lead blocker for a smaller back. He actually looks pretty good at blocking.

The FB position has become like the punter/kickers as far as scholarships go it seems. If a linebacker doesn't pan out and he has some size then give him a look at FB and see if he has a willingness and some blocking skills.

This is a real shame. Great kid, would have been a captain as a senior. He will be missed on and off the field. I hope he stays with the program next year as a GA.

Agree w/ this. This should be a sign it's time to open it up.
