Is Bell Injured?

Pick your poison because he and Taylor don't do much of anything. It's a toss up who should get the minutes so split them.

In the two games Taylor has started he's played 35 minutes. He's 1-4 with 2 points and 3 rebounds. No steals or blocks.

Going back to the UNC game - which is when the wheels started to come off.

Bell 164 minutes (excludes GT/Pitt - 8 games)
17-50
49 points
19 rebounds
4 assists
2 blocks
0 steals
4 turnovers

Taylor 164 minutes (includes GT/PITT - 10 games)
11-33
30 points
15 rebounds
3 assists
2 blocks
3 steals
3 turnovers

They are nearly identical statistically. Both should play and probably play equally and stick with the hot hand. If Bell is healthy he should be playing to close out the season. Both of these kids are freshman, both have talent and both need to be coached up for the college game.

Maybe the answer is Benny at the 3 and Brown at the 4 but there are really no good options because Benny doesn't play any defense. The team is rolling with 4 and 5 freshman playing key minutes.
Regarding Bell and Taylor, they are 4th and 5th options for scoring when they are on the floor. Bell does get some opportunities to shoot while Taylor gets even less opportunities. They have limited opportunities because Syracuse does not run plays for either where teams like Pittsburgh, Clemson and others move the ball around its players to see who is open, On Syracuse, it is either give the ball to Jesse, Joe or Judah. Other teams just need to guard those three and dont worry about the other two players.

This 1000%. You can probably count on two hands how many times Taylor actually got the ball in the last two games. Although to a lesser extent the same was true for Bell before he went MIA. They are not even the 4th and 5th options because the ball never gets to that point. It's a miracle if the ball gets passed a few times and certainly never gets passed enough to get reversed. This is why we almost never get the open looks from 3 our opponents (who are playing as a team) get.

Syracuse runs 5 plays: (1) Judah goes iso or 1v 2,3,4 to go to the rim or to drive, pump fake, pump fake, up and under or turnaround fade away; (2) Pass into Jesse; (3) Screen and rescreen and rescreen again for Joe; (4) Joe goes iso or post up; and (5) Judah goes iso, dribbles back out and shoots a 3. This is no offense and this is certainly not team basketball. It's selfish ugly basketball where the ultimate goal does not appear to be winning but rather to show potential scouts what I can do...
