no spring, hop or whatever in his game tonight. Also losing his man in the zone tonight, actually the right side of the zone is giving up way too many easy shots.

The ref looked right at the hit that was delivered to C.J.....I hope a great white eats him for dinner tonight at the beach.

Hes been sleepwalking so far this season. Cant shoot it and cant create his shot. Teams are figuring it out.

Its all mental. He hits his freebies at the end of the game though.

Not sure it's all mental. He doesn't have a shot and he doesn't have anything effective off the bounce. He's just good at occasionally cleaning up misses.

I agree he hasn't shown anything this year, but he seemed to hit the midrange jumper pretty well in limited minutes last year, even a few threes and showed that he could slash. Not this year (yet) though.

Yeah, I think he'll be fine. One of these games he'll go off for like 13-15 and get some confidence and then take off from there.

The Beast will not play any significant minutes this year in competitive games.

He'll be ready when ACC play comes.

Fantastic program and development move by scheduling a tournament like Mauii.

This is exactly what Grant needs to figure out his play before we play Duke, UNC etc.

That was bad. Starting with the selfish missed layup, blowing a 2-on-1 with Baye the first time we broke the press, that was the worst Grant's played in his already slow start to the year. All kinds of weak takes and forces; shaky on his wing with a few missed defensive boards. Would love to see his plus-minus tonight.

On the glass half-full side, Coleman and Christmas have never played better together for such a long stretch. (Until their consecutive late whiffs on defense that sent them to the bench.)

Bright side is that he's still here next year! The three foot tear drop was his furthest shot. He'll need to get back to some midrange game which should open up down low even more. He benefitted from an extreme mismatch the whole time he was out there.

And yet, whenever he touches the ball, the announcers say, "Jeremy Grant is Syracuse's best prospect to go in the first round." ???

It's probably true. He oozes athleticism and has great size. He needs to put a lot of work though.

Grant had a few selfish plays; but late in the game he made some nice passes and played well on D overall.

Grant doesn't have confidence in his mid range game yet. He is passing up open 15 footers and instead taking the ball into traffic against multiple defenders for bad shots. When he gets the ability to consistently take and make mid range jumpers his game will explode...and he'll also be off to the next level.

I think defensively there are too many lapses, but I'm not quite as frustrated with his offensive game. I kind of enjoyed his ridiculous little spin-move into the lane (thought he got fouled), probably bad timing with a help defender there - but otherwise, decent. He had the one nice teardrop from about 5 feet...his shot seems off, and doubt it gets fixed this year, but I think he's capable of hitting a bit higher percentage than we've seen thus far.

I don't know, I expect more, but not quite as down on him as some. I was hoping to see more of a Wes Johnson type impact on defense where he turned into a shot blocker off the wing. Haven't seen much of that though yet.

For this team to maximize its potential, we need both CJ AND Grant to be dynamic multi-tool scoring threats. I'm guessing that Grant will settle down as he gets more comfortable, but right now he's not doing anything from mid-range. He's been pretty effective attacking the rim, though.

Grant to me right now is a total street ball player . No real moves ; just getting buy on athleticism.

You guys are so right, I was expecting him to more a LeBron type player this year, but with more pep in his step, ya know? Modest goals were 22-24 ppg and 12-14 assists a night. Figured he'd be pulling in 15 orebs on an off nite. He's really letting everyone down and the problem is how selfish it is because he's only hurting the fans. Oh well, what recruits we got coming in?

I agree both CJ and Jerami should present match up nightmares for opponents when they are on the court together.

I would love to see that happen, but we aren't going to see to many times when grant and cj combinje for 5 straight baskets in 6-7 possessions putting the team on their back. That would be on grant developing a slower backing down of his defender, and finishing his layups over them from 20 feet out, or else knocking down 4-5 midrange jumpers some games so CJ can cheat inside more. We were fortunate we didn't see any of the perimeter only CJ tonight.

I think CJ utilizing a high screen from the right side dribbling left is a big option in the future and could chage that. Hes just so automatic from 8 feet out like 60-66% of the time its 2 points, a foul shot, both, a offensive rebound or a get whacked in the face teabag dunk with no foul. He can hit the 10 footer at will knows when he can get to the rim without charging, and is beginning to spot the baseline dish from 10 feet out . The problem with that though is if he can't find the drive off the screen who do you get the ball to shoot off the dribble late in the shot clock, maybe Ennis on a blowby. JB really has to get on the refs if he is going to go that route, you can't have him getting hit in midair like that all the time its a long season. I think if we ran Cj on that screen, he could have a shot at averaging 20 ppg maybe even four out of five nights in ACC play.

Grant, Gbinije and Cooney won't come close to Cj's scoring ability from 10 feet out this year even by march. Maybe Ennis if he starts making those, because of his dishing ability, but he still won't finish at the rim like CJ.

In the last two games Grant has gone 6 for 6 from the foul line so it's hard to complain. He did look a little sluggish but still made a good contribution. Cooney and Fair were terrific. CJ scoring 6 points in 90 seconds was amazing. And like you, I could not believe none of the three refs called a foul on the tomahawk chop that was delivered to CJ. The ball was already in the hole before he got hit. How blatant can it be!!!! The way the refs were calling the game so uneven it felt like a Duke home game!!!

Tomorrow night we will see more Roberson, Patterson, and BJ.
