Rettig is 34th in passer rating this year (144). Nassib was 35th (143)

Rettig threw more than Nassib as a junior but if you compare their senior years, Nassib threw almost twice as many passes.

It seems like Addazio looked at Rettig's junior year and thought, this guy isn't good enough, we need to go one dimensional

But here Rettig is making a giant leap in rating, even more than Nassib's leap.

Addazio probably blew it going so one dimensional. Rettig's job is pretty easy but he's also much better than last year on his own

Hopefully Syracuse recruits against BC this way - you could throw 15 times outside or throw 30 times inside. Hell, we let Hunt throw more than Rettig. BC had a stretch a few years back (Hasselbecks, Ryan, whoever) where they were way ahead of us at QB but hopefully that is over.

Rettig was tough as nails.

It appeared that he was going to do what he did three years ago - game manage a win over the Orange.

No.

Nassib's leap involved him being the focal point of the offense.

Rettig's leap was based on him running 70/30 run/pass ratio offense with the throws being for the most part play action to TE's and FB's. He's not asked to do much more than make safe throws.

Last year SU was 29th in passing offense with Nassib, BC is 113th.

I was convinced that Glen Foley would be the second coming of Joe Montana based on his play and the way those teams throttled us.

Rettig was a pretty solid recruit when BC landed him. I think the Spaz era stunted his development, but he seems better than what Addazio thinks...unless they really suck at WR after Amidon.

I also think that Addazio has damaged Williams' pro prospects with all the carries this year. While I'd like to see Smith get the ball more for SU, using a rotation can be a selling point in recruiting. It's clear that today's NFL isn't looking for backs with a lot of wear and tear in college.

Rettig doesn't get any credit for his improvement?

I know he isn't asked to do much, I said his job is easy.

Nassib's big leap came when they starting running 50 times a game too. (Granted we ran a million plays but the ratio was 60/40 run) Nassib had a 150 rating from UConn on. Nassib put up big total numbers but his rating was 137 before UConn. 137 to 150 is barely above average to very good.

We tried to make things easy for Nassib in prior years and it didn't result in high qb ratings. It's on the QBs more, I think.

Rettig looked good enough this year to justify a more balanced approach in my opinion. I think BC fans would agree if there were such a thing as BC fans.

me too. some of the deep throws he made in the dome were perfect

I agree, however, until this year, Ray Rice who I thought would never last as long as he did in the pro's, because of his huge workload at Rutgers, beat that belief! He has since fallen off the map as a productive RB, and his body will surely pay the penalty of the hits he's taken over the years.

It's a catch 22 really, you need to be seen as a productive back, but you can't peak or be burnt out. The Browns who took a lot of heat for trading Trent Richardson, slightly rectified the colossal mistake of taking him number 3 a few years back. RB's outside of AP, seem to be a dime a dozen these days.

Holy moley, forgot about Glenn Foley.

No BC fans? Really? I was at the Dome on Saturday. Great game. Let me ask you, how many traveling fan bases brought more fans to the Dome than BC this year?, or for the heck it, how many fans did Rutgers or Uconn bring to the Dome when you played them. (And the BC's fans traveled on a Thanksgiving weekend to boot!)

Superfans is not a club, it is a fever and everyone should be a Superfan.

Superfans? Club? I am not sure what you are talking about. You said BC has no fans. I just pointed out that BC has probably, based on my observation having attended the last 2 BC games at the Dome, brought more fans to the Dome than most, if not all, of the other fan bases. Assuming you agree, it does serve to make your statement a bit silly, wouldn't you think?

It will be known all over - BC kids wear gold...and go nuts.

Um, Clemson?

I def saw a lot of BC fans, more than most games, I'll give you that. However you have a long ways to go before you show up like Clemson, ND, PSU, etc.

Yup. BC brought somewhere around 1K. That isn't a great number for a game against a conference rival so close to Boston but it is better than UConn ever did, roughly comparable to what RU did the last time or two when they visited the Dome and I think it is the best showing of BC fans I have ever seen at the Dome. So bully for you.

When SU comes to Chesthill Hill next year, I would expect we will bring 5 to 10 times the number of fans BC brought here.

Well, I might respectfully disagree with the number. It looked to me closer to 2K and it seemed to be to be about the same amount we brought last time. I thought it was a very good number considering this was the Thanksgiving weekend and this was a 7 win team (although light years better than last year). Have no idea how many 'Cuse fans will attend next year in CH, but they will be helped by the fact that BC sits in a much bigger area than SU; and I would expect there are more SU fans living in the Boston area than BC fans living in the Syracuse area.

Regardless of the actual number, I think it does serve to make the "BC has no fans" comment look at bit silly, don't you think?

I'd like to know which of our DBs he outran all the way across the field.

We began working with UGBC and the Athletic Department in order to create the type of atmosphere that should be prevalent at a school with so much to be excited about. The result: The Superfan.

Millhouse, I know what the BC Superfans are. They are the current BC students. Do you honestly believe that all, or even most, BC fans in the Dome on Saturday were BC student "superfans"? Hardly. I was there with three other alums and we are not student superfans. Besides, even if every BC "fan" at the Dome on Saturday was a "superfan". They are still BC fans - something you claimed BC doesn't have any of.

Although we had some success, we also found many problems. The most obvious was the limited number of shirts made people believe that the Superfans were some sort of exclusive club or group. There also seemed to be a rivalry created between those with gold shirts and those without - sort of "well, I can't stand up and yell because I don't have a gold shirt."
