is it ok to be really impressed with Rettig?

Although we had some success, we also found many problems. The most obvious was the limited number of shirts made people believe that the Superfans were some sort of exclusive club or group. There also seemed to be a rivalry created between those with gold shirts and those without - sort of "well, I can't stand up and yell because I don't have a gold shirt."

No problem Millhouse, since you won't address my question, I take it you have conceded my point. Cheers.

and VT
and Penn State
and Iowa
and Nd etc. etc.

Orangello, I take your point, but that wasn't my question. Here it is again:
"Let me ask you, how many traveling fan bases brought more fans to the Dome than BC this year?, or for the heck it, how many fans did Rutgers or Uconn bring to the Dome when you played them."
I will concede that Clemson probably brought more than BC to the Dome this year. (They tend to do that everyplace.) But you didn't play any of the schools you listed at the Dome this year. PSU was played at the Meadowlands if I am correct.). It is hard to compare how many fans a school brings in a given year vs. a different school in another year, so many different variables.

Well, I might respectfully disagree with the number. It looked to me closer to 2K and it seemed to be to be about the same amount we brought last time. I thought it was a very good number considering this was the Thanksgiving weekend and this was a 7 win team (although light years better than last year). Have no idea how many 'Cuse fans will attend next year in CH, but they will be helped by the fact that BC sits in a much bigger area than SU; and I would expect there are more SU fans living in the Boston area than BC fans living in the Syracuse area.

Regardless of the actual number, I think it does serve to make the "BC has no fans" comment look at bit silly, don't you think?

I would expect there are more SU fans living in the Boston area than BC fans living in the Syracuse area.

Heck, I think there might be more SU fans living in the Boston area than BC fans living there. It will certainly appear that way for any basketball games against SU at Conte.

All kidding aside, it is good to have you guys back on the schedule and it is good to see that at least one BC fan in the world knows how to use the Internet. I sincerely do hope the SU-BC games develop into a good rivalry down the road. It would be very good for both schools, and for Eastern football in general.

Clemson brought about 3-4k fans IMHO Rutgirls and UConn maxed at 1200-1500 in their best years...but typically under 800.

Let's show everybody there is no reason to "Sit down and shut up" when you go to BC. Let's go Eagles!

Thanks sutomcat. I agree it is great to have SU-BC back on the schedule each year! I have a tremendous amount of respect for SU and its athletic history and pedigree, and look forward to these end of season tilts!

FWIW, regarding the fan bases, while I recognize that you have your tongue firmly planted in cheek with regard to the BC and SU FB fan bases, I must concede that for BB, at this point in time, you may actually be correct.

IMO, the prior AD significantly mismanaged the coaching hires for the FB and BB programs. The new AD has gone a long way to repairing the BC FB program and, unfortunately, IMO, will have to take the same approach to the MBB program at season's end. (Fortunately, the hockey program has remained the Country's most elite program and needs no remedial work.) Hopefully, in a year or two, we can be at least competitive with you guys in BB.

BC probably had more fans in the Dome this weekend than they had in Conte for their hoops game against Sacred Heart last week.

Full Rebar - No, but you are probably pretty close. I estimated that BC brought about 2K to the dome for Saturday's game. There were 2,149 in attendance for the BC/SH BB game at Conte. IMO, not Rutgers bad, but bad in any case. Lot's of work to do to fix our MBB program, IMO.

Can SU buy a block of say around 6k tickets at Conte? Just asking.

LOL...They would probably make you buy season tickets! From what I am told, a big part of the problem is that Alums buy the tickets to keep the seats, they just don't go. Given the team's overall performance the past couple of years, can't say I blame them.

Not to clutter a football board, but GDF's ego ruined things at BC. He should have never fired Jagz or Skinner. Heard a lot of bad things about that guy when he was at Nova. Addazio is a step in the right direction, but Donahue seems out of his league so far.
