Besides just butchering the English language his quips about plays and players are beyond dumb. Yeah I could turn the sound off and know what is going on for the most part but if something semi intelligent is stated I prefer to hear it as part of the game but "giving Waiter a tip after a Fab pass might have crossed the line into way out of bounds. I know the job isn't easy and as in most sports everything you say has been heard a few thousand times by everyone. There are no original questions or answers so the effort to be fresh is difficult. but geez do they have to be stupid while trying?;)

Dicky is bad in a good way. He makes me laugh out loud sometimes because his puns are so awful. I'd rather have him than a number of other college basketball analysts. As Pigpen said, he is a much better option than Doris Burke.

I think the "waiters a tip" was a reference to waiters ally oop pass to Melo.
Melo returned the favor. Just classic good basketball.
I actually thought it was a great line.
The equivilent of Bob Knight explaining Dion pass to Melo then Melos pass to Dion. The point is how they played together was noticed.

I hate announcers that play the biased momentum card. Dickie S. hasn't done that to us yet. He has some personallity and knowledge.
Personally the guy is above average in my book right now.

^^This is what i call a Heat Check
Ouch !! It isn't freaking necessary to be "clever with every utterance. First of all its impossible and when you aren't particularly smart it becomes a joke. The problem is that no one will say that to him. The other clown wasn't much better in using the English language properly My problem is that young kids watch broadcasts and hear this, presuming these morons know how to speak well! They should be recorded and used in class as an example of how stupid you sound when you speak incorrectly. You are judged in this world when you open your mouth and attempt to convey an issue or point. Whether its your vocation or friends ,you are judged. Of course if your friends are talkin the same way no harm,no foul.

You can't get the glazed donut, you need to at least get a french fry.
LOL i came into this thread specifically to post that quote, i chuckled a bit at that one.

I just wish we could get announcers who can pronounce "strength" and "length", and not use "strenf" and "lenf"

Doris "synergy technology" is the worst commentator in all the land

There are some bad ones, but Simpkins comments about the Orange "need Rakeem Christmas to be productive" for them to be successful was ridiculous. It was one of the most uninformed comments I've ever heard.

He also made some idiotic comment about Syracuse not really playing defense because they don't play man-to-man. I'm just waiting for Igor and BC to chime in.

Count me in - I wouldn't want him in the NCAA tourney doing games, but if it's an early season game that doesn't mean anything I'll take Dickey any day of the week (not every game, but as a change of pace - hell yes). The guy is mental and that's fun.

Mike Patrick...no contest.
He is REALLY bad. Every basic generic play is "oh my god what an incredible play! There's only a couple guys in the country who could do that!" he's way too over the top and it's annoying.

He makes me laugh. He obviously knows the game because of his playing history, but sometimes it just gets over the top. Another reason why all players shouldn't/can't go into announcing after their playing career is over.

He is perfect for games that aren't on National Television
