I don't follow football recruiting nearly as much as basketball recruiting. I assumed that Steve Ishmael was the sone of Qadry Ismail, until I realized their names are spelled differently. So that begs the question...Does Quadry have a son that plays WR and is anyone on the SU staff recruiting him? The Missile was the fastest player I have seen in Orange.

And a good hurdler on the track team too. If I'm not mistaken he was the first player to be an all-american in two sports at SU since Jim Brown.

No but steve ishmael comes from a good football family. His older brother is a starter for the falcons.

He married one of the best players in SU women's basketball, Holly Oslander. They have 3 kids. The oldest is a daughter named Qalea who was a terrific player in HS. She ended up going to Princeton.

The 2 younger kids are both boys, Qadir and Qadry. They both made varsity this season for Patterson Mill HS. I think Qadir is a soph and Qadry might be a frosh. Right now it looks like Qadir is playing QB. Too early to tell if either will be a D1 prospect.

No matter what people think of Jake C's tenure, his radical athlete match-making service could pay dividends in the not too distant future. In addition to the Ismails and McNabbs, Etan Thomas married former WBB player Nichole Oliver.

To think, some of the people on this board think Jake was just sitting in that office smoking his Marlboros and shopping for short-sleeve dress shirts...the man was a visionary.

Jake would have been more visionary if he remembered to have the secret "I love all things SU and will play sports only for SU" chip planted in all of their children for generations to come. Maybe he did...

I heard he ordered that oysters be part of every team meal.

You've jumped the shark with your knowledge and insight on the Ismail family.

6-5 Holly Oslander

Hometown hero for me. Played at rival cross town HS many years after I left town.

Those two happen to be two of my favorite SU athletes ever, so i follow them to some extent . They are both successful coaches now.

Hoping to add a Q or two to the football roster someday not too far down the road.

I covered Holly in high school for the New Haven paper.

I now live in Branford, one town over from North Branford, her hometown.

I intended this thread as a joke but got some true "Inside Information" that was previously only found on the payside of the old board. Nicely done Tom Cat! Maybe we could add Qadry to the SU coaching staff at some point? I would love to see more former players get involved with the football program. JB has done an excellent job with former players on the basketball side.

Loved watching the "Missle" play but I would not be surprised if Ishmael goes down as one of the top 3 receivers in the last 15 years of SU football ... with a solid QB and some more opportunities he is going to be a very very good player.
