it all boils down to recruiting and cuse will never recruit consistently well in the modern era. So we will never be consistently good unless something dra$$tic changes.

oh,and once players make money off of their likeness then it will actually be worse. At least the California and Texas schools will peel players away from the SEC when this happens.

Along the recruiting lines we need more north east talent, we can only steal so many kids from Jersey and PA, slim pickings in the north east

No it won't. There's never been parity in recruiting.

Our coaches don't recruit well. That's pretty clear from the annual ACC rankings. Need to spend money to get top level recruiters. It's not like SU doesn't have the money ($25 million just donated to Fball.)

We just got run out of the building by a recruiting peer. It’s more than that this year.

It was a big unknown with babers, he hasn't been anywhere long enough to know if he can recruit. He needs to do better

SU has recruited before, they've gotten good recruits now and they will in the future. TD was a 4 star right? You're making it bigger than it is, last year you probably praised all the great recruiting. Calm down.

Yeah recruiting can improve but today offensively was lynch s fault. Terrible

As a good motivator/leader As Dino is he must know that recruiting is his weakness, with that said you can’t wait until year 4 to make some changes in that department. This is something that should have been addressed early and prioritized

So - how is a small, private school like Wake doing well then?

With a stadium that seats like 32,000. And Wake always seems to have a very competent backup quarterback.

Everyone was just as certain of our demise in the '70's.
Everyone was certain that recruiting couldn't ever recover.
We got better then.
I wouldn't rule it out now.

It's not easy by any stretch of your imagination to find anything even remotely positive about what has transpired this 2019 Syracuse University Football Season. The only possible positive to come out of the 2019 season that never was is for Dino Babers to do some serious introspective reflection and to make the necessary changes in his coaching staff to help bring sustained success to Syracuse University Football. Here's to hoping that occurs.

You're right, there's never been parity. You're wrong, it will get worse.

When crazy boosters can pay whatever they choose to use a player's likeness. It won't take long for players to figure out where they should go. Keep in mind, while Nick Saban was already the highest paid coach in college football, Alabama boosters paid off his house for him.

As long as there remains an 85 player scholarship limit, it won't get worse.

There are teams that we consider to be peer or inferior with regards to tradition that have boosters crazier than ours. Those schools will be the threats to pass us and knock us further down the ladder, especially the state schools with larger alumni bases.

much worse. 85 player limit has no impact.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Those "peer" teams who have crazy boosters already have ways funding their programs and players. If they are peers now then they will be peers when (not if but when) players can be paid. If they are not peers then they won't be peers when players can be paid. No effect.

You think? The way I see it, the facility wars that began escalating in the 2000's reduced our ability to recruit against bigger name programs the way we could in the 80's and 90's, and that will be even more difficult when attempting to compete with schools that have wealthier/more boosters that can funnel that money directly to players and not just direct it toward attractive facilities.

Gaps that widened in the past can get wider in the future. Gone are the days when a BYU has a chance at a NC like they did in 1984.

I'm not going to be doom-and-gloom about this because player profit is going to happen and there's nothing we can do about it. Syracuse has always had an uphill battle with recruiting. That's not going to change in the new environment. It is critical that we have a coaching staff in place who is able to land diamonds-in-the-rough and is able to develop them better than the competition.
