The two accusers don't seem credible. Way more importantly, their accusations haven't borne the burden of scrutiny from three past investigations [including two initiated by separate media venues].

This entire thing hinges on whether anyone else comes forward to accuse Bernie. If that doesn't happen, then this probably goes away within days.

If it does...then JB is going to be fired and the program is toast.

I just wonder if this is just the first move to a civil suit down the road. Thats where money would be made if thats what its all about.

Totally agree. This is already kind of fizzling out, but obviously if a third alleged victim comes forward, we're toast.

Cautiously optimistic...

This ain't gonna go away in days ... too much media interest ... especially on the heels of the PSU scandal.

Theres no evidence to help us. As many victims as want to can come forward.

The worst we can get these kids on is to grill them and make them break. Then they can just claim emotional unstability made them lie (of course the drugs add to that).

If in any way the new investigation differs from the old one, the case will be null. they have to have consistency, as well as their confidants must, too.

I imagine this just hangs over the team like the grim reaper all season...as investigations go on and on.

This was posted earlier but its very telling of what we are dealing with here!

Not picking on you one iota, bsj, but I have to comment on this. Thanks to the Sandusky situation, people are more liable to believe claims filed by others people in similar situations. I can't divulge too much information, but a very close friend of mine (someone I trust completely) knows Bobby Davis and Coach Fine very well. According to him, Davis is a drug addict who has always had a troubled life. He had no dad growing up and Coach Fine (who I had never heard of until tonight) went out of his way to take this kid under his wing as a father figure. When the kid (Davis) had crossed too many lines, Fine had no choice but to cut him off financially and otherwise. Davis, upset by this, sought a way to strike back at the coach by alleging the misconduct. My friend actually lived with Davis for five summers and was in close contact with both him and Fine for many years growing up. He NEVER saw any sign of anything inappropriate happening and is absolutely sickened by these allegations. He said there is a less than 0% chance that these claims are true.

Now, I want to believe everything my friend tells me is 100% true, but I'm also old enough to know that he could have missed signs of inappropriate stuff at the time. I asked him straight out if he was ever touched by Fine and he became very angry that I would even ask. It didn't seem like an embarrassed fit of anger, but of someone who seriously couldn't even fathom that any of this is true.

If this is true as I think (key word, think) it is with Sandusky, I hope he suffers greatly and finds a special place in Hell for doing this. If Boeheim covered things up (as Joe Pa) is alleged to have done, he should be immediately fired and any possible charges that can be filed (if any - abetting?) fall into place.

The notion of kids being abused like this is beyond sickening to me. The fact that ESPN or anyone else would go live with this without all of the facts is also abhorrent to me. It's very difficult to get your name and reputation restored after allegations like this are made, even if the media publishes facts that prove otherwise after an investigation. No matter what, this man will always live under a cloud where some people feel he "got away" with it.

I have no first-hand knowledge of any of this, but felt it important to share information that I feel is credible at this point. If my friend's story changes at all, I'll let you know.

Sure there would be--if the allegations are false.

You know all this is fine and dandy ... but how about going to the police ... to the University ... to the media and telling them that information.

While I agree a third (or first ??) credible accuser would raise a giant red flag about Bernie, there are still aspects of the Davis and Lang accusations that should be able to be independently verified if true.

Is there evidence about the extent of travel and hotel room sharing that may have occurred ? Is there any evidence of Bernie having Davis in his office & locked the door ? I for one would like to know why Davis was a ballboy for six years, it seems excessively long to me. What is the custom for taking ballboys on team trips ? Is it unusual or the norm ? Just a few of my questions. As another poster asked, what are the backgrounds of Davis & Lang ?

I think answers to these types of questions could either exonerate Bernie or bring more credability to the accusers claims.

In the meanwhile, I agree with another poster who asked why isn't Bernie, if innocent, making a public statement with full denials and some sort of explanation as to his relationship with the accusers?

All in all, I want very much to believe in Bernie, but I also want to have the doubts removed.

Maybe then we'll finally get the elusive answer to what SU is paying Hopkins.

They better have way more proof than this to launch a civil suit. So far its just he said vs. he said with no corroboration of anything.
