It is all hindsight, Ans not a knock on MCW, but

My guess is defiencies in the rest of his game outweighted his shooting in the first place and those are still there. If JB thought he could help he could burn the redshirt and put him out there right now.

Eh, I see what you're saying but in MCW's defense hes behind a first round draft pick, a senior pg and a player who could play in the NBA if he ever stopped moping around.

Really, you perceive BT's demeanor as "moping around?" Not saying that you're wrong, just that I see his flat expression as him being really focused. BT has come up with some really clutch plays this season, particularly it seems at the end of games. Each time, he has that look on his face like he is going into battle and nothing could distract him from getting his job done.

No, because MCW is the 4th guard in the rotation and with our luck an injury to Scoop, Dion, or Triche and MCW gets minutes. MCW is better prepared to play in that situation than Cooney. MCW will make the leap next year with Scoop and most likely Dion gone.

Yeah, just because a kid is quiet and doesn't smile much on the court doesn't mean he's moping. Not every kid can be as ebullient as Carmelo was, or Scoop is, after all.

By the way, I'm giving myself a high five for successfully using the word ebullient in a basketball message board post.

Exactly, when he has that look youre talking about at the end of games or when he gets hott, hes a beast. When he has the look im talking about hes a mess. He is capable of being the player you referenced all the time and im hoping he is starting to realize that.

I watched the Finally Orange DVD recently and I almost forgot about how much Melo smiled back in those days. As soon as basketball became his business, he stopped that. He never smiled anymore. I guess having to carry those crappy Denver teams on his back wasn't that fun.

MCW...JB's been voicing some displeasure about the way our guards have been rebounding lately, MCW wasn't a bad rebounder when he got some minutes.

JS..Lots of people commented that he was a very good outside shooter from practice reports. That dates back to his freshman year. We've seen that when he's on he can hit, but consistency has been a problem. I do like how he's picked up in other aspects of his game.

Cooney has gotten the same kind of glowing practice reports concerning his outside shot, Whether it transfers to consistent success in real world games remains to be seen. (see JS above)

I think he could. If he blows up next year I think he gets a shot. 6'4, quick, built like a linebacker and can shoot. Next year is his year to shine...and I have a feeling he will.

+1 I don't give Triche a great shot at sticking, but as Long Island says, if he has a great year next year he might at least get a look. He'd probably need to develop a really consistent stroke next year and be our go-to guy to get a look as he hasn't demonstrated terrific point guard skills as of yet. But that all could change. I do think the kid has the heart and the desire. We'll see...
