It Looks Like We Made A Couple Top 3's

Manhandled in half our games, really? I must have been watching different games than you. I saw a kid making plays who had below average height but a lot of speed. How many plays of the 500+ that we defended against did he get manhandled?

Please post some of those plays as I would like to see what I missed after watching all the home games from the stands and watching each of the 13 games on DVR 2-4 times each.

Im not going back and watching the games so i can support my statement but his play was discussed ad nauseum every weekend last fall. Some good some bad, the bad was mostly a product of size like him getting buried by lineman at the poa.

Ya I gotta back up Phat on this one, Diabate had a good senior year but he was overwhelmed some games and completely MIA. South FLorida is a good example.

I loved Diabate... Kid got the most out of his physical ability... Moving Spruill outside and him manning the middle was a key move to our success last year... Hopefully Spruill is ready to quarterback the dee this season...

The only linebackers that don't get buried when a lineman get their paws on them are the ones that have B1G or SEC size with speed and even they can't shed those blocks.

I could pick any 13 game season for any team and show linebackers getting buried all game long.

You are being overly critical of him because of his height I think.

he was an ok middle linebacker who over achieved at times. you're giving him far to much credit.

Are we talking about Diabate?

I think he had a fine year. The key with a guy that size was the defensive line occupying blockers, which they didn't do effectively the first few games. Then it was like a flip switched and the line started killing it. Once that happened, Diabate was free to use his best asset--speed--to chase down runners, and he was quite effective.

Not suggesting that he was the best MLB we've ever had, but he fit the system. And once the DLine started doing their job to great effect, his productivity really ramped up.

He was the defensive star of the Pinstripe Bowl win...not to mention that the coaches thought enough of him to name him captain.

Diabate was a leader in the locker room. There is more to a player's ability besides his height. He was the type of kid coaches wish they could mold their whole team after. And his life story makes it even more inspiring.

The kid more than held his own last year.
