SU needs to learn from it and move on. The team is in the strange situation where many people are more optimistic after a loss than they were after the three previous wins. I'm glad SU has a bye week to get healthy and to work on some things before the game with South Florida. I give big props to Mahoney for stepping onto the stage yesterday and playing pretty well. He struggled early, naturally, but by the end of the game he looked pretty solid. SU has a good QB coach I think. It has been my unpopular opinion that Tim Lester did a good job last season under very difficult circumstances, and I'm really not that surprised that I like what I'm seeing from the SU offense so far this season. The defense yesterday played well at times, and I hope the bye week ends up being a great opportunity for a lot of these inexperienced young players to take a step or two in their development. I still believe that this team can go to a bowl game this season, but in order to do that they need to avoid emotional traps and distractions and listen to the coaches. Go Cuse!!

Our win last week was against a MAC team and our offense looked worse then GRob era offenses. This week we hung in with the number 8 team in the nation with a walk on QB. So yeah to me it makes sense why most people are pretty fired up after this week compared to the Sunday after CMU.

Shows you what Lester is able to do with a kid when he has a week to prep him

The next 2 games vs USF and UVA will dictate whether this team is going to a bowl. I don't think its a forgone conclusion like many think, but I do think its possible and I didn't believe that when the season started.

I can see why you would say that. For me though, at this point, I'm not going to circle any games and say that the result in this or that game will dictate how the season will unfold. I think this SU team can lose to any team remaining on the schedule, and I also think SU can beat any team remaining on this schedule. I am not saying that they will run the table or anything like that, but I am saying that they have the potential to beat any opponent on the sched from here on out.

Yeah, the staff and players have a great opportunity to make a statement against some vulnerable opponents. They've got to keep building on the good that has happened this season.
