Yes it would come out by Saturday but maybe doing it subtly and with some grace for GM? I wouldn't use the word demoted maybe reshuffling of offensive duties? Hows that for terminology? lol

It's great they got in front of it. Accountability, tough decisionmaking. I'm a bigger fan of Scott Shafer today than ever before. Leaders need to make these tough moves. I was questioning if he could. I haven't felt this good about Syracuse football than 1 minute before the Villanova game. Let's finish the season strong regardless of what the record says.
You never know this weekend. They MAY compete and make it a game. If there was ever one where the other team is overlooking us, it's this one. Hopefully they make life miserable for Jameis on his way to a 35-14 win.

I don't know about the team making it a game this weekend before or after the MCD demotion. The bright side to this, at a minimum, is that although we're likely going to get blown out (which was likely to happen anyway), maybe Lester shows he has what it takes to run an effective offense with the personnel at his disposal. That's what's more critical to me than anything.

Maybe having McDonald on the field will be good, if he's as personable as some say.

saturday's game went from "i'd love to go get drunk and get away from kids" to "this might be a good game to take kids since i'd want to leave after 15 minutes anyway"

Do you think Shafer asked Marrone what he would do?
Being able to make staff changes is an important HC quality to have.
Marrone has shown that ability.

Regardless of the outcome of Saturday's game, if anything, this shows anyone that was taking the "he's his friend, he won't do anything to him" position that Shafer is a professional and is above that. It's an important message - no person is above the health of the program and not consistently performing your role at a high level won't be tolerated.
