it's pretty amazing SU even has 2 FBS wins

Any ranked statistic that doesn't attempt to adjust for schedule strength is a relatively flawed measure especially considering our SOS is in the Top 25 this season and likely includes 8 out 11 FBS bowl eligible teams on it (one of the highest # of bowl eligible teams in the FBS).

There are offensive and defensive efficiency measurements out there that I'm pretty sure the OP is aware of that are a better relative measure but don't provide the triple digit shock value (take into account adjusted SOS, pace of play, garbage time etc.). Said statistics are produced by paid statisticians. There isn't really a need to reinvent the wheel in advanced statistical analysis.

Bottom line is that our offensive efficiency is in or around the low 60's and our defensive efficiency is in or around the high 90's.

He brought up statistics, I brought up statistics. Not offering an opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

SU is 9th in non offensive TD's and 7th in percentage of non offensive TD's.

73rd in scoring, 89th in offensive TD's.

They are also have one of the highest number of TD's in OT.

That might account for 3 wins instead of 1 or 2, still pretty awful.

Anything convoluted formula that indicates this offense is in the low 60's is meaningless.

To you its convoluted. To others it's a more accurate statistical measure of performance than the irrelevant total offense statistic that the simpler minded like to use.

Btw, I am not promoting that we have a great offense. It's just not as bad as reported on this forum by those who continue to state the same.

The main problem is the defense this season and their failure has contributed to our dismal record much more than the offense. I believe that to be fully supported by meaningful statistics.

It's moot because the offense keeps going down in their measure down to 78th I think

It's bad because it doesn't score enough points for us to win games.

So everyone who wants Shafer out is clamoring for an offensive minded coach. The only one we have hired, that I remember, has been Marrone. The only year any of his offenses scored more ppg, was his last year with a senior laden offense and an arguably easier schedule. The problem has been the defense.

with last years D we win 7 possibly 8 games

And taken on the whole the only stat that's worrisome is the % of non offensive TD's.

The rest of that is all good news.

It's still scoring points. Whether it's the offense, defense or special teams. How many of Beamer's wins can be attributed to his special teams and defense.

We need to hire an offensive coach who isn't a miserable grouch

116th in yards per game offense vs FBS, 117th in defense
Gerg approved.

"Even I didn't accomplish that much incompetence."

I agree, Bunk was good in the HBO show about New Orleans post Katrina. McNulty is in some show my wife watches on Showtime can't remember. Omar solid in Boardwalk as well.
