Izzo disappointed in MSU fans

It is interesting to me that other schools struggle with this. Honestly, I thought it might have been only us! I suppose that was naive. But as a season ticket holder who designates every game to be a "must see" and then to go to the St. Francis game and see about 11,000 people there (oh, I'm sorry, 23,000), I confess I don't get it. This was particularly distressing two years ago when we had a team that only lost once during the regular season! That was #1 and then #2 for almost the entire season! Hello???

I think aside from St. Francis, the crowds have looked really good on TV, especially for early games. It's hard to expect people to make it out to every single game. Still, we definitely have first world problems when we are worried that we only have 16,000 in attendance when schools like UConn can't even fill up their adorable 10,000 seat Gampel.

In all seriousness, once my kid is old enough to sit through a game... he and I are getting season tickets. He will be more rabid than his dear ole.

The first time I took my daughter to a game, she was 5. Skip 20 years. Now she has been my constant sidekick for the past 4 years. We went to the Final Four together. It is fabulous! Have fun with your boy. (By the way, wouldn't your wife watch him when you go to the games? Or am I getting too personal?)

That truly sounds awesome. And I hope to replicate it. And my wife would certainly watch him I just can't justify spending so much money on something I think to be selfish at this time... but once he enjoys it... its no longer selfish. At that point is bonding. Amirightorwhat?

My youngest son was 2 when we started to attend games. My oldest was 8 and my middle son was 5. They are now all avid fans. We only had 2 season tickets so we had to alternate who went so it was always a thrill for them when it was their turn. My oldest son's first game was the first Big East tournament which was held in the dome. SU beat Villanova in 3 OT's on Leo Rautins tip-in. What a game to start one's SU fan experience. I agree with bballbeadle - enjoy it. Those days sitting with each of them and listening to their perspective on what they "saw" creates special memories long after they are on their own and something you can always share.

We happened to be in Syracuse during the bball season when my oldest son was about 5. We went to a game in the Dome, and he got Rony's autograph--the thrill of a young lifetime for a kid who already understood basketball and bled Orange.

5 or so is a good age. My son went last year to MSG - Temple harrumpf. But he sat through it and had some fun! All you have to do is feed this kid cotton candy and he falls in line.
