The uniting characteristic of the entire Ryan clan is braggadocio. It works until someone fights back against the bully(ies). As an Iggles' fan, we used to delight in Buddy's antics until it finally dawned on us that he couldn't get the Birds out of the first round of the playoffs. (Still like the fact that he referred to then-owner Norman Braman as 'that man in France', but I digress.)
Problem is that there are/were big holes in both Buddy's and Rex's coaching skills. Buddy never had a clue as to how to coach offense, Rex doesn't appear any better. And both (well, all three if you count Rob) use extreme defensive pressure, which is great as long as you've got great rush guys AND great cover guys.
If not, welcome to the 99-yard TD.
Plus, nobody likes a big mouth. When you force them to shut their pie hole, they're toast. I suspect that more than a few Jets' players are beginning to get off the Rex Ryan Express.
I also suspect that the Rex Ryan Super Bowl window is just about closed. He'll get another year, maybe two, but I don't think the results will improve.
