Jabari Parker...

Yeah he does play very similar ... although the jayhawks d leaves plenty to be desired. We arent alone in being a young team. Parkers shot looks a lot like melos too

I saw that as well. After watching him for about 2 minutes, I said to myself...this kid is Carmelo Anthony part II. Everything he does reminds me of Melo from the way he's built, to his ability to score from everywhere on the floor, to the way he can bully guys for rebounds. This kid is the real deal.

This whole Jabari Parker thing would be so much better if he was suited up in Orange. But alas! he is a dookie. It's still safe to say that up to this point we've had the best freshman player in all of College Basketball in the modern era.

Even if you just want to restrict it to guys who were the top gun on a title team, Anthony Davis can give Melo a run for his money. Both great college players though. (And looks like both are gonna be or are great NBA players.)

Both Duke and Kansas are scary good this early in the season. It pains me to say it but I don't think we match up well with either .. yet.

I think we are right there in the same spot as a lot of the top 10 teams in having a lot of young talent but really showing our youth. Having CJ with him being a senior is such an advantage IMHO. Long ways to go though. Outside of some shot blocking I thought the defense was awful in this game. Duke lacking any sort of post D is going to be a problem for them. Both teams were sloppy at times even if the turnover counts don't correlate with that statement. The most impressive player I thought was actually Seldon ( sp?). He reminds me a little of Dion and of Meshaun in his confidence and immediate impact as well as his build. Wiggins reminds me of Rudy Gay. Bigtime talent but doesn't always seem to know what to do. He made a couple of lavish moves that while they were pretty they weren't needed. He somewhat made it harder than easier but still finished because of how athletic he is.

Parker is scary good. Like Melo and maybe even more than Melo he enjoys the perimeter a bit too much. With that size he should be posting up a lot more than he did. I would imagine you will see him do that more with Duke lacking any other real inside presence.

Totally agree with both of these statements. But I think the best freshman I saw last night is Randle. That kid is a beast, reminds me of a Karl Malone with Charles Oakley's attitude. So who do you take? Rudy Gay? Carmelo? Mailman? Personally I'd take the Mailman.

Just heard the following from Jeff Goodman on ESPN:

"Jabari Parker is very much like Carmelo except Jabari is a winner...of course, he won at Syracuse, but.."

I stopped listening after that. HOT SPORTS TAKES are the worst

It's dipsh!t statements like this that make Goodman look like an uneducated tool. What? Melo has won everything other than an NBA Title. It took Lebron going to Miami and having an all-star line-up around him to win in the NBA. Without Melo, we don't cruise through those Olympic runs either.

Come tell me about Jabari in 5 years if he has an NCAA ring, an Olympic Gold and an NBA Title. Until then, Mr. Goodman, stop with the rhetoric.

The way this is written, it seems to me like he is DEBUNKING the idea that Melo was not a winner.

Well said!

I watched the whole Duke vs. Kansas game last night and came away overly impressed with Jabari Parker. He was really good. However, how in the world can Goodman say that Jabari IS a winner and that Carmelo isn't? It really doesn't make any sense considering Jabari has perhaps won state championships, etc. But what has he won that Carmelo hasn't? Plus, Duke lost last night? So perhaps Jabari is a winner when he's really a loser? Tricky!

Anthony shot 10/23 from the field.

2/6 from three

5 /12 from the line.

1 assist. 1 turnover, and 11 boards.

27 pts, in 39 minutes.

it was volume scoring.

I like the analogy, Malone with Oakley's attitude. He's got "it".

Do we really need to give Melo credit for winning a gold medal? I'm not saying I agree with Goodman, if that is what he said, cause he won an NCAA title, but winning the gold medal isn't a huge accomplishment
when you play for team USA.

And that goes for anyone, I'm wouldn't have Lebron's 2 gold medals (and counting) anywhere close to the top of his resume as an all time great.

Why would you not give credit to a member of that team for winning gold, especially a Syracuse player? And I'm the delusional one.

I wouldn't credit any of them, really. Their team was loaded, of course they were gonna win the gold medal. I'm not calling Melo a loser or anything, but I don't see winning the gold medal as being indicative of much. (And you certainly can't say Lebron won only cause he played with Bosh and Wade and then say anyone is a winner because they won a gold mdeal for team USA)

Here's the clip...tell me what you think... 4 min mark.

"CARMELO'S NBA CAREER IS A TRAIN WRECK LOL"

In the new world of hot sports takes, if you aren't Lebron, you are a "train wreck"

Greg Oden is a train wreck.
Darko is a train wreck.
Melo is not a train wreck...or even close.

Last night was must see TV for Sixer fans.

MCW, Randle, Noel, add a wing...

Yes I agree... Randle is a beast and the sixers need a power forward cause Thad is not the answer.

Hahha don't worry, Kevin Durant is gonna be a train wreck before too long

My point is, it's an accomplishment either way. Sure we're loaded, but we won!

You are thinking about the mature Melo not the freshman Melo when you say they are built the same. Melo was no 235 as a freshman. Melo may have been quicker and as good a scorer, but I'm not sure he was that good early in the year.
