Jackson Meeks: Lions FA

You know who Jackson Meeks is a lot like? journeyman receiver Tim Patrick, who was inexplicably cut by the Broncos in 2024, subsequently signed by the Lions, and had himself a respectable 33-catch, 394-yard, three-touchdown regular season as one of the club's background options.

At nearly 6-foot-2 and 217 pounds, Meeks is a sizable specimen on the outside, and what he lacks in speed (4.65-second 40-yard dash), he counters with tenacious ball skills. The former Georgia receiver came down with 60% of his contested-catch opportunities (despite the 50-50 ball cliche, a 60% win rate in that scenario is fantastic for any wideout) during his lone season at Syracuse. He's not sudden but loves shielding defenders with his body. While there aren't loads of new targets "available" on this Lions team from the squad a season ago, Meeks could serve as direct depth behind Patrick in the receiver room with a strong summer.

There was a drop by Lovett, the Detroit 7th round wide receiver. Meeks certainly would have snagged that.

FYI for anyone watching, Meeks is #83. Wax is #58 for the Chargers and Gadsden is #86
Good to see all 3 get in the box score. Meeks also with a tackle. Seemed like Wax and Gadsden played most of the game. Didn't see Savion Washington.

Ive been reading a few blogs around the different teams the boys are on, seem like both lequint and Meeks are consensus keeps on their respective team's 53 man rosters. Ya never know how it'll shake out but that bodes well for Syracuse if the boys can stick in the league for a bit.

Wax had a good game Saturday. He started the game. Maybe could be backup lb and special teams.

I've heard Lequint is a lock for the Jags roster from a well informed source there. He needs to stay healthy and just keep doing his thing. But he's impressed with his work ethic and skills, including on special teams.

Etienne days are numbered. They will keep Bigsby, Tuten, and Allen 100%. Etienne I could see traded or cut.

Meeks might end up being the best pro out of all those Syracuse players who went to the NFL this year.
