james southerland & agent declined

Just making a joke at zelda's expense as that post was a non autocorrected mess and very unlike him
Zelda wrote it exactly as it was intended.

Hint: re-read the first entry in this thread.

I have to say the Spurs could have been a great landing spot, but Dirty gets a contract in Europe regardless of the spurs deal. The difference is that he has the opportunity to make an NBA roster this year, and if not he can still go to Europe. If the Spurs really want him they can grab him as a free agent. It can be argued that his chances of making the NBA could actually be worse if he takes the Spurs deal as it would fall solely on their need to have him on their roster.
A voice of reason! Exactly.

Someone on 76ers board said Southerland would play on their summer league team. No idea if it's legit...
Yup it's legit. Read somewhere of his agent mentioning that he'll play on both the 76ers and Warriors summer league team. Should be a good opportunity for him to showcase his shooting and hopefully landing somewhere. 76ers will be fun to watch with MCW, Southerland, and they also have Khalif Wyatt on the squad as well.

you guys are just plain wrong. The Spurs wanted James to go to Europe. they weren't going to pay him one red cent. However, James would theirs for two years. And he would get nothing in return. He could go to europe if he wanted. Or he can sign with any team he wants. Much better for James. No question.

Please cite your authority. If they were not going to compensate him, then wouldn't they have to formally cut him and thereby relinquish rights? This isn't indentured servitude. If a 1st round pick from Serbia, say, decides to show up and play for the team that drafted him, even if the team thought there was no way in hell he was coming to the U.S., they have to pay him the requisite rate or cut him. Similarly, a 2nd round pick ain't bound without compensation.

maybe this explains why Boeheim had words to say about Danny Green and his poor shooting in games 6&7

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. How could you say no to the best Franchise (if you consider their market size) in American Sports.

And yes, i stand behind the Spurs as the most well run franchise in all sports.
In the NBA it's not hard for a few teams to be ran well, considering 90% of them don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. I liken the Spurs to a 10 year successful fantasy owner joinig a Yahoo league full of first timers.
