Didn't we have three time outs left when Jardine got the ball and was nearly trapped and he threw it cross court to Triche? We had the possession arrow also? If so, couldn't he instead call TO to avoid a dangerous play? Or held on, got fouled or tied up? In either case we shoot FTs or get possession? I didn't review those final seconds so i dont exactly know if that was the case.

Im sure the coaches let the players know the the conditions in these situations (e.g. if the other team still has fouls to give, who has possession, tos left etc) and to act accordingly and not risk a turn over.

yup ... he and triche play stupid so much it's mind boggling. I'm not the type who thinks the back up QB is the best player on the team, but i really don't believe the frosh would make half the boneheaded mistakes these two consistantly make.

Someone has to help him out and come to the ball. Dion just stood there as that fade was picked off right in front of him. Use the TO there.

Agree...we had huge problems with guys not coming to the ball late in the game. It wasn't just that play either. Really lazy Hoops 101 by our guys.

yep, when I watch replays of the last few inbounds plays (specifically the triche play) watch what the other guys are doing. nothing. They look confused. It's like they've never done it before and had no idea what to do - or how to inbound under pressure.

But over the years we've been a notoriously horrible team at inbounding the ball against pressure.

The standing around by our players when they started pressing was mind boggling. It improved, but we kept throwing the ball to Triche who circled back into trouble every time. The last few games we have looked lost at times. I watched several other games yesterday, and a lot of the winners looked motivated and and in sync. Right now, we look nothing of the sort.

But we won, so hopefully tomorrow will be different!

It is clear that Dion does not want the ball in these situations. Either he has been told not to come and get it or he's doing it intentionally. I have to believe that the inbounder is instructed to get it to Triche as he is statistically the best FT shooter. Either way, as SoBe said above, you can yell at Scoop (and Lord knows I do a lot of that) but some one has to come to him and help in those situations. Maddening to watch.

When Scoop stood in one place when we had to burn a timeout I almost lost it. Unreal.

lets be real...it was an errant, scoopid pass. Yes scoop helped 'Cuse win the game. But his overall play sucked. Triche wasnt that much better but at least he hustled whereas scoop and dion did not in most situations. Bring in MCW and I dont care which guard loses time. But JB needs to stop being loyal to Scoop, to Triche etc.
From my perspective, Scoop has not played well since senior day.

Scoop has to start getting up on shooters better. He's giving up way too many threes with no hand up or challenge. Unacceptable for a senior. The other guys do it occasionally too but Scoop keeps mentioning the lead by example/sense of urgency cliches. Man up and play hard.

Yep. He doesn't think sometimes. The floor leader has to know these situations -- like we have 3 time outs left and we have the arrow. I never have the feeling any of our guys do. Same for most teams though. SU has had trouble inbounding against pressure forever. It has to be the coaching.

Yeah, we sure didn't do ourselves any favor inbounding the ball over the game's last two minutes. It was almost like guys were afraid to come get the ball.

I found it almost shocking how ill-prepared the team seemed to be in those inbound situations in the final minutes. Like Jake said in his thread, it was like Paul Harris redux. Was like they'd never seen a press before.

Jim Boeheim presents the "Paul Harris Inbounding Academy" . Learn how NOT to inbounds the basketball in pressure situations from such Cuse greats as Paul Harris and CJ Fair. As an added bonus learn how a point guard should NOT act when in these pressure situations with tutorials from Skoop Jardeen and Brandon Trish, the evil twins of those two lovable Syacuse enigmas.
