OK.. I have a question probably more answerable by Jake or Francis. I know we were interested in Sina when he was a soph but apparently lost interest even before his committment to Alabama. Now he has decommited and according to reports SU has made contact. Is he viable? I know SHU would love him and is in his back yard. We lose Scoop after this year leaving Dion as he only pure PG ... MCW could move over but he seems more of a 2 than a PG. Then we lose Triche and we would be thin at the 1 & 2 especially if Dion has a break out year and decides to move on. Meanwhile we seem o be concentrating on the bigs. Sina looks very good and I know we are also looking at Monte Morris. Do you have any idea who JB and crew may be looking at to fill the gaps at the 1 & 2?

Morris, Brantley and Stanford Robinson are some of the guards that they're looking at for 2013. Tyler Ennis and Rysheed Jordan are other names to look out for moving forward as well. IMHO I think MCW will be running the point when Scoop is gone.

Thanx Francis ... forgot about Brantley, he's coming in with Noel for MM. Tyler Ennis is the kid from Canada. As far as MCW goes you are probably right altho wouldn't that be a slap at Dion? MCW can play swing possibly better than Dion and would be a great 6th man behind Dion and Triche. I'll have to checkout Stanford Robinson and Rysheed Jordan. Thanks again.

I guess we will have to wait and see MCW's game ...I always saw as a 2 and he has been consistently listed as a 2. Dion can handle the ball well and has shown a good ability to pass off. Leadership is the issue for both.

Actually you are right ... to paraphrase our HOF leader ... We really don't have a point guard. Whoever brings the ballup the floor is the point guard for the moment.

Regardless position is of little importance at this level. The bottom line is they will both be great players at SU

How can you say leadership is an issue for MCW if you haven't seen him play a single game?

Dion is all 2. MCW is a 1. Triche is a combo that is best suited as a 1.

Triche would be the slowest pg besides edelin and not nearly as effective. Dion def scoring pg but will be off the ball option here and mcw can play 1 and 2.

Being a PG is also a mindset. Soon doesn't come close to having that kind of mindset. Also, while not "quick" in the Flynn mold, Triche isn't quite as slow as you think.

Bt is slow with the ball, without it he could run a 4.3 40 who knows. Your right pg is a minset and i think its not meant for bt. I dont ever see him in the nba so heres hoping he becomes a consistent scoring option.

Somehow he had the mindset in HS and in AAU ball where he tore up a lot of people and also as a frosh starting at PG. He's only been moved to 2G because Scoop can only play the point and BT can play both and they are our 2 best guards. Same reason Ricky moved to PF. He is/was a better C but neither Melo nor Keita could play PF while Ricky could play both to an extent. It's about getting your 5 best on the court.

I hope your not saying playing pg in high school and aau is like d1 big east basketball i know its late so ill let it slide. As far as our 2 best gaurds i disagree maybe most experienced gaurds.

Maybe Dion is a point SG :noidea::rolling:.
Playing against a PG on offense is different then playing against a SG.

Dion and MCW are going to make one of our most fun backcourts of all time if Dion comes back for his third year and both improve their shooting some. In terms of isolation they could both be on Kris Josephs level of Isolation. That means a different better level.

With a Jr Fair, and a Senior Southerland to help them on the perimeter. AND with the intensity of Keita and toughness of Rak under the basket. Not to mention with a third year Melo as a upperclassmen or DC playing with Senior Triche again. Thats one heck of a eye opening lineup to think of. We are going to be explosive, experienced and tough on the boards no doubt.

Dion is One of the most flashy 6'4 dribbling guards out there. He has all the moves to get his guy off balence. He also has one heck of a sidestep, invites contact, and isn't afraid to be the man, the mark of a leader(a word you use with PG).

Dion and MCW are going to be so much fun to watch if Dion stays around his third year for their distributing ability, athleticism and ability to play some aggressive and extneded defense. Expecially with guys like CJ, and Keita who have already shown true intensity.

They just need to get better at their outside shooting and get some more experience. We still need to see how MCW adjusts to the speed of the college game (including lateral mobility on Defense and blowing by his defender after he gets next to him ;))

Sheesh .. a tad touchy. What I meant was to be PG you need the leadership skills ... I didn't mean they didn't have those skills.

While in high school he was a prolific scorer, if you watched any of the All Star games that MCW played, you would have seen how well he passed the ball to the right places at the right time. If he is in fact a pass first, shoot second PG, we will have exactly what we need.

While he did make good passes and play scrappy ball in a all american game(got to love that fact).

What he didn't do was blow by his guy to get shots and a extra passing lane or two in the paint. There were a few times where it was questionable whether or not he may have rushed a pass or two due to the defensive pressure.
