Rotation we need

Yeah I ball handling might be an issue. Starling can handle it. Bell can help break a press and I think Davis can help out a bit there too.

That being said, this team has a lot of faults right now. No matter what starting line up you put out there, there is going to be a problem somewhere. But to me that line up gives us the most offense, strength, size, athleticism and rebounding
Defense is the obvious issue. If u have trouble scoring u make up for it with tough Defense I dunno what's hard to not figure out about that lmao

We are just so awful at PG - gonna be a tough season
Almost wonder if better to not play a true point. Run through Eddie and Davis put three shooters with them. Run some actual sets without all the pointless dribbling. Moore had more deflections tonight than all the other guards combined. He at least has long arms and some idea how to defend.

Agree….the pg position is the weakest position on this team. Carlos is the only ‘true’ pg and he just doesn’t cut it (and that is against LeMoyne and Colgate). What is he going to do against ACC pgs?

Aside from the issues at a specific positions, the guards defense (as a whole) is very concerning. They couldn’t keep the Colgate guards in front of them.

To me it’s pretty obvious Red still does not know a rotation as he is just throwing players in and out of the game. I think after two games is kinda obvious what players need to play in my opinion. This might be an unpopular opinion on my rotation but fire away on what you think

PG: Starling
SG: Bell
SF: Freeman
PF: Davis
C: Lampkin

Rotation:
Carlos: (he’s not a starting guard at this level but I think he’s a good back up)
Petar: I actually think he needs to play more. He’s heady, crafty, knows how to play and a decent defender. He’s a very good rotational player
Lucas or Moore: who ever is playing better that game and what we need matchup wise. Moore is better offensively. Lucas better defensively

Things need to be tweaked. Red has never been good with the rotation/subbing going back to last year which concerns me. Westry would be nice if he can get healthy but can’t count on him. McLeod and Cuffee shouldn’t be getting minutes. I dont necessarily love our bench tbh but our starters are pretty clear to me. I actually think Petar is probably our best player off the bench with this rotation

We have no rim protection, and he's played Naheem about 11 minutes in four games. He has to play, just to block a couple shots, get a goal tend and intimidate people a bit. It would improve the defense.

And we're going to have to play some zone, or else Carlos can't play this many minutes. He's really poor defensively.

Eddie doesn't play good enough position defense. He gives up so many direct drives to the hoop, because I guess he would frequently foul. He's the kind of guy to be on a team that outscores people.

Donnie has to start, just because of who he is, and I liked seeing him drive into the lane a few times. Not his best game; did not finish the game.

We look a guard short right now. Somebody has to emerge. Red needs to play and pull more people to enforce some effort on defense. He has to play Naheem, and pretty soon, he's going to have to mix in some zone, and some press.

This team is too soft in man, because we can't play all the defensive guys we need to. It just gives up too much offense, in Red's eyes.

I counted at least 4 times JJ dribbled the ball off his foot tonight. Better off putting Moore there. Moore legit may be our best all around guard on both ends. He’s also aggressive and plays hard.

Serious question, because I might be getting these new guys mixed up: wasn't Moore the guy who turned a one-on-none fast break into a missed layup in the first half because he looked like he'd never dribbled a basketball while running before?

I think he should legit consider a zone. Then we can play McLeod as well.

Zone back line of Lampkin - Freeman - Davis would be crazy good I think. Still worry about guards up top but that backline would be good.

I agree. I don't think he's ready for what we need from him, but it's clear that he has to play 20 minutes a game.

I don’t see signs that Red has a good feel in game and has zero feel for defensive strategy. Hate saying that but this is just a mess on the court.

Yeah, he's looking unsure what he is trying to do.
I mean, the lack of rim protection is so obvious. And so far has been ignored.

I get that he wants to build chemistry, but these guys are too flawed to play that many minutes and not give up a million points.

We need to be able to press. We need to inject energy and effort, play more depth, keep the guys fresh and working hard.

We need to pull guys after 2 mistakes (not 1, like JB), because every possession counts. It's usually the difference between winning and losing, if you're the team with the 10 extra possessions.

We need a zone. When you have a 7-4 center, how do you NOT play zone for 4 minutes a half? I mean, seriously!

Fixable, but things are disappointing right now, for sure.

JJ and Bell seemed a bit overwhelmed with the pressure they feel to be the key guys.

Lampkin embraces it, but tries too hard to create things offensively, and is a toreador on defense.

Not a good mix right now.

Lucas Taylor is not quite good enough to be who we need him to be. Neither is Moore, neither is Freeman.

They're going to get punched in the mouth in NYC. That happened in last year's tournament, too.

There are really two problems… we can’t stay in front of our man and there is ZERO help d and or rotation. For a zone to be effective they would need to rotate even more than in man.

I’m kind of with the other dude in the we won’t be relevant until we are dead… this program is washed. The talent is better but the coaching is dire right now.

I will say last years team got better as the year went on which is a sign of good coaching I guess.

I don’t know I was too busy watching our McDonalds All American shooting guard get blown by possession after possession while he dribbled off his foot every time he tried to initiate offense.

Cuffe
McLeod
Taylor
PetAR
Lampkin (someone has to play center)

I was never a great dart player, but I wanted to take a turn.

I would like to see that lineup and that lineup playing zone. Carlos gives us nothing and can just be flat dropped from the rotation. Moore can play backup guard.
I am soooo happy you’re not coaching the team.

You can play zone without having your center constantly contesting corner jumpers. You don’t have to play it like a 4 out defense like Boeheim did. If you play more traditional 2-3, which Autry used a bit last year, you cut down on the guard penetration.
