I may have mentioned this at one time or another, but when we first moved to Michigan in the early 90s, a family moved in on the next street over from us. The husband had been an assistant under both Coach Mac and Coach P and had just taken a coaching job with MSU.

They had kids and our wives became friends, but I never once met the husband. He was either working on campus or out recruiting somewhere. Despite never having met him, his wife told him about us and when they ultimately left after a year for him to take a job in the NFL his wife brought over an SU coaching staff shirt for me.

Remember the old intro song to WKRP in Cincinnati? “Got kind of tired of packing and unpacking, from town to town up and down the dial?” It’s a lot like that with these guys.

It’s tough with a young family.
