I think so. He is listed as having eligibility remaining on OX's fishes and loaves tacked post on the recruiting board, with an annotation that he did participate in graduation. So this isn't a huge surprise.

Hope it works out for him wherever he decides to go.

It's safe to say at this point we can take a full 25 and however many in January.

Right now we've got at least 55 players returning, with Arciniega awaiting a waiver, and Funderburk and Sloan with eligibility remaining.

55-58 returnees = 27-30 recruits.

Our returning roster has 55-58 according to latest fishes & loaves, contingent on Sloan, Funderburke, and Arciniega. 5 are listed as possible January enrollees, so in order to bring in 25 over the summer (not just sign), we need to be at 55. It is reasonable to assume that through academics, departures, etc. we will be at 55, IMO.

Crucial now to gauge who will not qualify and bring in as many guys as it takes to get an actual 25 on campus in the summer. Arciniega's situation is tough - if the NCAA is going to deny his request, I would hate to leave a roster spot open past NSD if there are quality prospects wanting in. How soon will we hear about his request for hardship waiver?

If I were a betting man I'd say that both Funderburk and Sloan return for varying reasons. And as far as Arciniega, who the heck ever knows how the NCAA will rule.

Recall thinking that George looked solid during his first spring game as a true frosh.

Overall, yes... but, 25 is still 25.

Actually, not at all. ; )

Because some recruits can enroll in January and be assigned to last year's open scholarships, we can actually go above the 25 per class limit by up to 8 [I believe], based upon how the numbers work out. After mathematically accounting for those back fills, 25 is still 25 for the recruits arriving in summer / fall.

25 is still 25. If you can somehow find 8 of your recruiting targets who can get enrolled by January and who choose to play in the Dome, that's great. After that, it's still 25.

I suspect that SU has never had 8 early enrollees (which seems like a large number for a non-factory)... though I'll be happy to be proven wrong (hello OrangeXtreme). :)

Agreed--and that's the important distinction. AFTER THAT, it's still 25.

But your post above didn't account for the "after that." Because it looks as though we're going to backfill at least 4-5, and possibly more depending on what an early enrollment possibility like Doyle Grimes does. That + 25 = ~30

buy you cant go over the 25 from last season either.. how many came in last year?

There are already 3 for Jan. Maybe 4. There are 22 commits for June. Then there are probably, based on OX good numbers 57/58 on roster. There is not much room left.. 2-3 max

21 recruits from last year ... AJ, CC, and WW all enrolled in Jan 2014 (and should have counted towards 2013), leaving 18 kids counting towards the 2014 class.

Room to backdate 7.

glad the word graduated is there --good luck to him

The only way to get to 7 for January would be adding Juco's/UAB transfers right? Or is there another possible early entry Frosh out there?

I think the writing was on the wall when I saw him walking in plain clothes near the concessions during the FSU game. I'm certainly no doctor but he sure didn't look injured to me. Saw Rodney Williams too and he had a noticeable limp.

Until another player or two or three depart unexpectedly. Then there will be room for 5-6.

Happens every year.

Syracuse is expecting between 28-31 players in this class
