I may be in the minority, but I will let JB coach until he wants and do what he wants for as long as he wants. I have watched this team with passion and pride as long as i can remember and this coach is and has been the heartbeat. If this was a closely held business (and not a sports team for our entertainment) we would have no opinion and likely look at this as a great thing for the boss to do for his family. Its not his company, but to me he has earned every right to make these decisions. This organization will come out of whatever hole many foresee the end of this legacy doing. I don't like this rosters make up or the record. I don't care if there is some deep throat conspiracy to get his sons on his team or whatever hogwash got us here. I would love to be with my 20 yr old kids everyday, especially if i spent the majority of their childhood traveling for work. I just know i am, and we are Syracuse fans, and will always keep our Orange breathing. Im ok with this heart going out on its own terms. I'm 49 and seeing JB2 out there still lets me think thats not old and reminds me of when i actually was a kid.

Thanks Coach!

Again, my thoughts and I don’t criticize or object to anyone's differing opinion. Its ok to not think a like or agree...we all want our team to be the best it can be and agree it isnt right now and worry about if or when and how it will be again. Thats normal. Enjoy the game today and your weekend and the entertainment it provides. I do expect to break at least two more remotes this year, but i do love that this still elicits passion (though i enjoy the positive ones as opposed to this year for sure)

Could care less if this is fun or not. My thoughts and declaring them. Ppl disagree, i have no problem with that. Not here to debate my point. Older i get the easier it is for me to look at someone saying 1+1=3 and me just say ok and move on. No time to argue, goal is not to change anyone's opinion here and no one is going to change mine on this, though no problems with anyone thinking they ought to try to do so. All good.

Settle down Francis. I’m just interested in seeing where this thread goes, because it’s got potential.

And just to be clear, I’m going to be 53 in march and I got to play hoops with my 18 year old son last night. Going out on a limb here, but I’m guessing that is more fun than having to answer questions from the media about nepotism

Far from in need of settling. Im calm as a cucumber. Just pointing out i could care less whether this is fun or not. Kudos for being able to still hoop it up...i have to take a minute after putting socks on! And no one...NO ONE calls me Francis...or I'll kill ya!!! :). Is JB sergeant hulka???

I respect you trying to be positive, but that just isn't a good way to run an organization. Once any leader becomes larger than the organization itself, it almost always leads to institutional rot, whether it's a company, athletic program, government, etc.

I dont disagree in general...this is me, specific though to my thoughts on JAB...but totally hear you and respect that thought in general

Wait a second. Did your son play more minutes than he should have, though?

Just because it would be nice to have his kids on his team and give them all the minutes doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Lot's of people would like to be able to hang out with their kids at work and can't. I don't feel the least bit sorry that he missed out on so much of his kids' childhoods. That was his choice. JB was social security age before his kids were playing junior high ball. If watching them play was a priority, he could have retired and spent more time with his kids than most dads have the opportunity to.

This idea that it's his program and that he has the right to do exactly as he wants with no questions asked just isn't true. It's the university's program. JB was hired to do a job, one that he has done exceptionally well for most of his career. His prior success, however, doesn't mean he can make decisions concerning the program unchecked. He's still getting paid to do a job.

The only real loyalty is blind loyalty. Anything else is lip service. Coach stays and his team will be on the floor this afternoon and I will be cheering hard for both. I have never booed any Cuse Thelete. Not so kind to the opposition. I won't change.

Jim played on the first SU team To make the NCAAT and made it to the elite 8, I'm sure he was a player coach on the floor guy that drove that team. I believe he played 3 three years and none of those teams had a losing record. He left the program for a while and was brought back as the assistant coach and stayed as assistant coach for 7 years and the made the tourney and made it to the final 4 and no losing seasons while he was helping run that team. He then became head coach and has had 45 winning seasons with many deep tourney runs and a NC while being targeted twice by the NCAA for violations that amounted to jaywalking, while many other programs have been flat out paying for talent. That's 55 years of being a part of SU basketball teams and no losing seasons. And now people want him thrown out because the team isn't dominating, while still making final 4's and sweet 16's? There are a lot of entitled , ungrateful people who profess they are Syracuse Basketball fans, that's all I got to say.

i agree with the general sentiments youve offered...but my patience is wearing thin each passing season.

before buddy came onto the team...I thought much like you do.

the first season of buddy i saw - based on preferential treatment and playing time he got - what the next 4/5 years would be and it was depressing...this season is basically that worst case scenario come true.

building a winning team around his sons and building a losing team around his sons are two different stories for me. his sons could be valuable pieces on good teams...but not the stars of the show imo.

as a fan, what sticks in my craw the most is that the decision making from the HC seems to be distorted around things other than winning. the current priority for the past 4/5 seasons is win as a family. (aka his sons/sons friends being focal points of the team) JB surely still wants to win. but his judgment and decision making seems to have gotten a lot cloudier than ever before. theres a strong argument to be made that he basically has hi-jacked the program to coach his son(s)...which, if it was just out in the open and freely admitted would be easier for me personally to stomach. i think thats basically what is going on and ive thought for a while now...and it bothers me a lot less than most, from reading this board...but its still caused my passion for watching the team to nosedive.

what I wonder is what will happen when his sons and sons friends are gone (assuming hes still the HC)...will he go back to clearly prioritizing winning. has his judgment faded? im not sure...but I think it has dulled somewhat.

but i agree with you - to an extent - let him coach as long as he wants.

at some point though I would expect him to accept that its his time to step down...I dont see him doing that though...which erodes my patience and interest in the team.

This post is tbe perfect response.
Tbe OP brings a good response.
Couscuse being Couscuse is right on brand with not getting the points and just spewing spin argument.

The OP I can atleast respect his argument. The frustration isn’t about losing this season. Its the a culmination of years and actions.

Have you thrown in the towel on this years team? This team is not that far off from being a very good team. I guess you're just turning your back on the guys. And those accomplishments I listed aren't pretty good or acceptable, they are off the charts, one of a kind, not to be found anywhere else success.

I seriously doubt that’s all you got to say

I have no idea how in the world you get to ‘very good.’ There is no evidence for that. The defense alone would never got us to very.

This year’s team is playing to get 17 wins.
Continue the non losing season streak.
It’s not an NCAAT team. Go ahead and root for it. Will i be very happy if we make it but we aren’t a tournament team this year.

Well, I look at the early part of the season with a very difficult OOC schedule and bringing in so many new pieces and feel that loses were likely at that point. Then I see the last 5 or 6 games where they've competed and had and had leads and had a good chance to win all of those games, and 3 of those games had some incredibly biased officiating, IMO, so I see them getting stronger and turning a corner.
