I would think that something of this nature would be immediately forthcoming. It will take a long time to sort this all out and see where the pieces of the program fall.

It is actually something that should have been said at the start but there is nothing we can do about that now.

I agree with that and I expect to see a statement today from both Cantor and JB although Peter Moore says JB will have no comment "at this time".

Exactly. I doubt that any new statements will be made without being vetted and approved by a whole army of SU lawyers and the chancellor.

This is no longer just about basketball. It is about the integrity of the University. JB shot his mouth off and at this point the grownups should be the ones to make the public statements.

Say what you will about Marrone, but I'd rather lose with that guy than win with a guy who attacks the victims at the first sign of trouble.

Oh please... Not a thing has changed to suggest JB wasn't correct in his statements. They certainly weren't made as part of some cover-up.

Why were we not out in front before? We could have made JB sit down and issue an apology last week. SU could have released a statement saying that while we do not know if the allegations are true or not, JB was wrong to come out and attack the accusers credibility. We at SU do not condone that and as a representative of SU JB should not be making such statements. As a result we have decided to fine JB and give the money to a victims charity.

If we had done that, I think SU and JB would be in the clear. Now you will have victims groups coming at SU hard to fire JB. This isn't even hindsight as I mentioned this before. SU dropped the ball here.

Hate to say it, but SU needs to pimp slap Boeheim a bit in passive aggressive ways...PUBLICLY.

And Boeheim deserves it for saying things the way he did a week ago. His eventual contrition needs to mimic that, and yet, it won't be easy as a man who clearly thinks he is larger than life in the 315 area code was blindsided by his sidekick. And heaven help us if he knew something, though I really don't think he did.

I wouldn't have JB say anything. He walked his first statement back enough to say that everything is subject to change as the facts develop. I would have him say that at his next presser. Another statement would draw additional attention to his first statement. I just see the potential for more harm than good from another JB statement. And, you sort of set a precedent that JB will divulge his new reweighing of the evidence every time something new dribbles out.

As for the university, the short Twitter statement was fine in my book. The one thing the university can enlighten us on is whether Davis divulged the tape to the lawyers conducting the 2005 investigation. If not, I would push that hard. If so, I might want explain why, in the university's view, the tape didn't give credibility to the accusations.

Well, I was always a bigger fan of the football program anyway. I'll just go back there and enjoy the old fashion, garden variety discussion about whether the head coach sucks or not.
