Thats not just record thats beating them 2 out of 3 games.

yeah but we don't play m2m and zone we only stick to a 2-3 zone, something that JB created and is one of the winningest coaches of all time after doing.

Whoever wrote that article should be fined

Well all these coaches know, from reading Igor, that playing a 2-3 zone requires no coaching ability. Fools.

LOL. ESPN.
"Boeheim has a combined record of 73-36 against the Top 25 coaches."

Now, some JB "fans" on here might say, "well, record does not necessarily mean he's a good coach".
Incorrect. I'm pretty sure results count.
:)

1) It's not ESPN that decided this - it was a SURVEY of 250 Division I head coaches - basically JB's peers

2) The survey didn't declare "top 25 coaches" as you so imply - these are the perceived top guys at X's and O's.
JB has always been known for letting his guys have tons of freedom on offense with not a ton of set plays. He's GREAT with the "X" but his reputation with freedom on "O" most likely led to his omission BY THE 250 COACHES polled, not ESPN.

yeah the zone is such awfull coaching that the nba outlawed it and brought it back just to slow shaq down.

I know it was a poll.
And I didn't imply anything. Direct quote. I believe ESPN did the implying there. ;)

As always you can never trust polls done by coaches, or pretty much any information any coach gives the media.

Didn't Tom Izzo top the list? The next in-game adjustment that guy makes will be his first.

One thing to point out - is JB has been around so long that many of his wins against these top coaches could have been when they were just starting out or at lesser schools with substantially inferior to top level talent. (Pitino and Beilien are examples). But still - the numbers are the numbers, and if a coach is so good at X's and O's he can beat more talented teams (ie Butler, George Mason, FGCU, etc).

a reporter asked jb after the game 3 years ago how much he works on the zone. he said very little; it's a freakin zone. some of u are misled by our def+en+siv+e prowess. that has to do with long lean athletic quick san tuds. if they lined up in man they'd never be outrebounded. of course no coach would pass up practice time to work on rotations so he could go to the beach.

This "quick san tuds" that you speak of...is it found on the beach...like quicksand? I left my igor-to-English translator at home today.:bang: :blah:

Who cares about this? His record speaks for itself. Maybe he isn't a great X's and O's coach. Does it matter to anyone?

Igor, your premise requires that we assume Syracuse has always had far superior players to all other teams, including power teams. Why do you believe this?

Further, recruiting is just as important as X's and O's in the college game so your theory also requires JB to be the undisputed #1 talent evaluator and recruiter of the modern era. Again that makes him absolutely the best at a major aspect of the coaching job. Do you believe that to be true?

Ps I feel a statewide Internet outage in Florida coming on...

the funny thing is that JAB himself would have no objections to being left off this list that seems to have so many s panties in a wad.
