Correct me if I am wrong, but in basketball arent these refs, NCAA refs, not ACC?

Meaning they work games in multiple conferences? Ted Valentine isnt exclusive to the conference I dont believe.

Buddy is a class act just got frustrated playing some forward on the blocks and lashed out a bit.

Gotta go cheer with the crowd, otherwise, it's LiKe saying Dan I got world cup tickets for 2026, when it's still 022.

Jim on final Coach K game: “I’m glad I’m not playing against his players anymore. I’d love to matchup against him…We’ve had some great games and great battles. He means more to college basketball than anyone.”
A not so subtle dig at K, I love sarcastic, competitive JB

An announcer, maybe Bilas - can’t remember, said that the refs did review play shortly after the ‘punch’ but had no idea why they were reviewing it because they didn’t call anything. I missed that, anyone see them stop play or go over to review film? Just strange and upsetting if what that announcer said is true.

Well anyone who had any doubts that Buddy/Jimmy will actually be leaving this year ….. thst answers it

It's hard to review a NON-call during a game.

None of the refs (apparently) saw the actual foul/punch happening, and only the aftermath.
And it seemingly wasn't sufficient for them to stop play for a review at that time, which is when it should have happened.

In a perfect world, they call that (blatantly FFF'n obvious) foul on Buddy right there and then.
Worst case, he gets tossed, but clearly that wouldn't have mattered in that game anyway.

More realistically, it's a Flagrant-1, which is 2 shots and the ball for FSU, which woulda been the appropriate, balanced 'punishment' for Buddy's uncharacteristic transgression.
And it woulda had zero impact on that game, OR on this next one.

I do agree, it's kinda BS to review a NON-call AFTER the game - talk about opening Pandora's box.

buddy and his apology felt so real and heartfelt. as i said seemed like he knew he crossed a line and deeply apologized and regretted his actions. but JB couldn't let it drop . and his dad's comments frankly makes me want to puke. it' all about winning.
"nothing happened.but if it did it wasn't that bad.and even if it was bad he should have played today. blame the refs... " JB wish you showed the same class as your son.

I think what Buddy said for the first minute or two was quite good explaining his thoughts about incident. Then it seemed a bit overdone. I don't think the kids who look up to Buddy are shattered.

Great job by all three Boeheims. Jim will always be a little rough around the edges in these situations, but that's him, and there is no doubt he loves this program and his boys. Jimmy and Buddy are fine young men and excellent representatives of the university. I'm happy they were able to play a season together, and although they didn't get a storybook ending, they provided us with some great performances and many good memories.

I think the part Jim forgot is that if the punch never happened he wouldn’t have to be upset Buddy didn’t get to play. Kind of a weird hand wringing by him and comments on the board. Ultimately, if he doesn’t throw the punch the whole thing is a non-issue.

But I’m also old school. I don’t believe In not paying for your actions because nobody found out till later. We have a weird culture, everyone else’s kids should pay for their mistakes just not our own.

His best trait is being a great Father
That was heartbreaking to watch. As upset as I get with Boeheim, in an odd way he feels like family, and I know any frustration I feel he feels it a million times worse.

He and juli did a great job raising their kids. Buddy and Jimmy are miles ahead of most college kids in terms of work ethic, humility, and kindness.

That would have been the first Flagrant - 1 punch in the history of basketball. Props to Buddy for stepping up and taking ownership.

Wish we’d see more of this post game temperament from JB. He was great.
Was he great though? I really don't know. I enjoyed the presser, and felt emotional actually, for the sons and dad as they spoke. As critical as I've been of Boeheim this year, that got me hoping for another game. That all said, Jim said things that we all knew were true, which has impacted our program negatively recently.

None of these guys are. I’ve seen TV Teddy doing mason and Madison games. Dude makes 5k / game…

Also, what I haven't seen anyone mention is Boeheim contradicts himself from the day before. One day he's saying he saw the video and Buddy's hit was inadvertent. The next day he's blasting the refs for not making the call to punish him during the game. If JB couldn't tell it was purposeful and worthy of punishment after watching the video, why should he expect the refs to? If anything, he should be lauding the refs who seemed to agree with his original assessment of the punch.
