Coming in the form of boards and blocks. He seemed to be saying that he was there and not to be ignored. I saw Jimmy speaking to him a few times. Presumably positive reinforcement and encouragement kind of words.BTW,you knew when the game was over near the end when the camera caught Jimmy's fingers roaming around his nose but thankfully he never went drilling. It was close but the game caught his interest more and the expedition was over!

No question--Jerami Grant gave us good minutes last night.

We'll need him to continue to do so--because given how important Southerland / CJ are, we can't afford to have them play 40 and put with the intensity we need from them. Grant playing like he did last night gives JB the luxury of rotating those guys out--even briefly--to get some rest, which gives them slightly fresher legs down the stretch.

It was interesting that he went to high school with Home Depot and they are good friends. Sort of like when Grant played against his brother. He didn't get the minutes last night as he did vs ND but was almost as effective. Maybe the comfort level of playing against a known opponent gives Grant an upper hand which should play well for next season.

Grant was fantastic last night.

He looked scared in the BET and scared in San Jose. Last night he fouled hard, fought for rebounds, and played within himself.

We don't need 10 points from him, but 5 pts, a few rebounds and some good fouls will make a world of difference for this team.

Whether he scores or not, we need him to be active on defense and rebound the ball. If he does those things, even if he doesn't score another point the rest of the year he'll make big contributions.

In addition to their actual contribution to the stat sheet, the less tangible benefit to playing even limited minutes is that in future tournaments, these guys will have had the experience of playing under the bright lights on a national stage, and will be far less intimidated. Sometimes I have to remind myself guys like Cooney, Grant and Coleman are 18-19 year olds, not far removed from HS ball.

jerami was big.. he owes trevor a dime on that one pass trevor slipped him. Also those two freebies were big. His block on sheehey- wow was that nice

On a scramble and ensueing tie up with about 4 Guys on the floor, Grant jumped in front of the only Guy that could get a pass , that impressed me,(Even though the ball remained on the Deck and a tie up was called) That was a little thing that wins Games

this kid should have gotten WAY more minutes this year than he actually did

I was left Curious what JB was saying to him when James pulled the ball back out with 30 seconds left up 10 when he had postion for a monster dunk. All you could see was JB's back. Was the one thing that left me curious all game.

Just curious... whose minutes would you have given him?
Prevailing thought says no one's minutes but 20 years from now when Frozen's new baby make a post wanting to know how an all time great like JG did not play as a freshman, what should we tell him. Just kidding of course, but it's part of the JB/Syracuse way.

Good perspective.
