Our previous DC had no experience himself. Since he didn’t seem to be a natural at being a DC, the coaching at position groups was likely going to suffer as well. This is a different scenario. Maybe he’s just an okay DL coach. He’s going to be working under someone who will make sure and knows how to make him better. Or Kehres will jump in and assist himself.

This isn’t complicated.

Maybe this is like how you always wonder about chefs that aren't at least a little bit chubby, but slender chefs can still be pretty good.

People really think there’s a major difference in how to teach our DE’s? This seems an outstanding hire to me. He should be able to kill it with more resources. There’s certain positions i’d rather have lights out recruiters than teachers. This is one of them .

This is true. Of all positions, this is the one that requires the least amount of interaction with other position groups. The most important thing is to get guys who are explosive, strong and disciplined.

The defensive line follows the instructions of the defensive coordinator as far as how to lineup and what gaps to attack. Linebackers really need to know what the defensive line is doing, but not necessarily vice versa.

It is helpful if a defensive line coach can teach techniques, but as far as coaching, it’s really not like coaching the QBs, secondary or offensive line.
