Jerry Palm's Latest Bowl Projections...

His father was a stud athlete here.

But it would give us a chance to show Murray's father that he should have brought his kid home to play at SU.

Georgia could play SU in the game against without Murray and hand the ball to Gurley and we would still get housed by atleast 42 points. Gurley is the best RB in the nation in terms of size, speed, athleticism and ability to transcend to the NFL. Georgia lost to Clemson by 3 pts, Mizzou and Vanderbilt because of they were without Gurley and 4 other 5 star recruits. I shudder to think how badly they house us if they played their starters atleast half the game. Georgia would be like Florida State we wouldn't be able to stop them and their size on defense would destroy our offense.

You took my post too seriously.

Yeah, I figured you weren't serious as you grasp reality unlike others here. If Murray's dad is an SU alum its disappointing we aren't doing a better job getting sons of former SU athletes into the program. Gronkowski, Murray, Williams etc.

i dont see why people wouldnt want to play georgia. they aren't all that good this year and its good national exposure. if we play good D and run the ball well then anything can happen. Ga isn't FSU and might not get excited to play Cuse, which could be to our benefit.

His Dad isn't an SU alum. But went to HS here and was a great athlete. I think he pitched in the minors for awhile.

Georgia has top 5 talent in the country. They lost to Auburn by a fluke, Vanderbilt and Missouri because they were without 4 of their top 5 skill guys. Lost in Death Valley opening by 3 points versus a Clemson team that killed us and beat LSU. I WANT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH GEORGIA. The point spread would be the highest in bowl history I wouldn't touch Syracuse 42 points.

...are you just going off of their record, or have you actually watched them?

Georgia WOULD KILL US. I mean 56-0 us. Gurley is the best RB in the nation, and Aaron Murray is a top 5 QB in the country. Please for the love of god NO to UGA. Give us a team with simliar level athletes. UGA has top 5 talent in the nation with FSU, Bama, Ohio State. I don't want to throw up watching the bowl game. Our D can't dominate a team with good QB and Murray is elite.

They likely would beat us soundly but I'd love to see the matchup. UGA has some stud players but are weak in pass protection and in their secondary. Obviously not convinced we could take advantage of the later but they struggle against the run as well. It's nice to be in a big boy conference and potentially match up with big programs in a bowl game once again. Curious if UGA might be looking for a new coach at that point as well.

Gurley is the best RB in the nation... but can't stay healthy. His leg is pretty much duct taped together at this point so no telling if he'd still be playing by that point. Their backup rb's arent nearly as scary. JJ dances in the backfield more than PTG, Douglas is a bulldozer that is 10x more heart than athleticism, and Marshall hasn't turned out nearly as well as expected. I'd like to see Bromley, Spruill and co matchup. Go big or go home.

I'll take the Military Bowl against C-USA, thank you. This game would be a beat down like the Clemson, Georgia Tech, and Florida State games.

i seen them play. im not saying we would win, but i dont see the harm in playing them. this is all about stepping stones. we aren't turning into a top 25 team overnight. plus, no one expects us to win so we have nothing to lose. i much rather watch us play Ga then some other crappy team.

it's pretty bad that we have to hope for a lesser team if we make a bowl game. after we get there i usually would prefer to play the best available, but i just can't take another 50 point beating this season.

Gotta agree. Give me a middle fo the road SEC or B10 school, that's what we are...middle of the road. I'd love to play Michigan this year. Any reason 2 ACC teams can't play each other if one is taking an at-large bid?

NW is a middle of the road Big team... yikes!

I see three other media sites predicting us to go to the Music City Bowl in Nashville (CBS Sports, CollegeSportsMadness.com, and HuffingtonPost.com).

I think Nashville would be fun. The timing is great being on Dec 30 because of the New Year's Eve holiday the next day. I just looked on ticket master for tickets and they have a few good packages too that include tailgate party invitations on a show boat that will be docked next to the stadium with free food/drink. Here is the direct link if anyone is interested.

We've been beaten badly 4 times this year...don't need a potential 5th time. Give me a winnable 3rd tier bowl either somewhere warm or somewhere close to the SU fan base.

I added the payouts to the acc bowl matchups (and others I've seen SU projected into) in this projection in selection order:

BCS Championship: Florida State VS Alabama - $18,000,000
Orange Bowl :Clemson VS Wisconsin - $17,000,000
Chick Fil A Bowl : Miami FL VS Missouri - ACC $3.97M/SEC $2.93M
Russell Athletic Bowl: Virginia Tech VS Louisville - $2,275,000
Sun Bowl: North Carolina VS UCLA - $2,000,000
Belk Bowl: Duke VS Houston - $1,700,000
Independence Bowl: Georgia Tech VS Arizona(replacement for sec team) - $1,150,000
Military Bowl: Maryland VS North Texas - $1,000,000
Heart OF Dallas Bowl: Boston College (replacement for bigten) VS Rice - $1,100,000
Pinstripe Bowl: Notre Dame VS Rutgers - $1,800,000

Ones where I've seen someone project SU:
Music City Bowl: Syracuse VS Georgia (or Mississippi) - $1,837,500
Beef O'Brady Bowl: Syracuse vs. East Carolina - $537,500
BBVA Compass Bowl: Syracuse vs. Houston - SEC $1M/AAC $900K (would we get the extra $100K for taking the SEC spot?)
Little Caesars Pizza Bowl: Northern Illinois vs. Syracuse - $750,000

Exponentially tougher game in the Music City Bowl, but we'd bank an extra million or more. The Beef O'Brady combines a Florida trip and probably the most beatable opponent, but it doesn't pay squat.

Doesn't the ACC split bowl revenues? How does that work?

the acc pools its bowl money takes out expenses then splits I believe which is why you should be rooting for Clemson to make bcs bowl as well as florida state

I'd be interested in seeing some actual breakdowns from past years to see how that's worked out. Particularly in terms of the range of "expenses" that were reimbursed off the top and what kinds of things qualify (or do not).

I want a name program that's having a so-so year, with a bad secondary and an overrated national reputation.
