Jesse Edwards: Timberwolves

There is one fundamental difference between Jesse and Joe. In Joe's case it seemed like a mutual decision for him to move on once JJ came onboard. Not that we wouldn't have taken Joe back for a fifth year with open arms, but his role would have diminished somewhat. In Jesse's case, he was being fully counted on to be a key piece, perhaps THE key piece to last year's team and gave every indication that he was looking forward to finishing his career in Syracuse. The West Virginia poaching began before he was entered in the portal and Syracuse was blindsided by it with no real opportunity to backfill with a player of comparable skills.
I cheered for Joe when he returned to the Dome in the uniform of an opponent. Don;t think I would have done the same for Jesse.

The problem I have with Joe is he got in the best shape of his career for his 1 year at Clemson and it clearly paid dividends for him and his team on the court.

Why did he have to leave cuse to do that?

Having the best Joe at Syracuse would have been nice.

It always goes that way. Contract years. Guys who are let go and go somewhere else.
Joe was wrongfully maligned for much of his SU career. I am sure it was also a bit of an ”I’ll show them.”

Maybe he's not maligned as much (I agree it was too much and a function of JB playing him out of his best position) if he gets in shape at SU.

I don’t think we would have gotten the best Joe with Judah playing next to him. Clemson had the right mix of guys. Judah moving on and adding a true PG next to Joe with getting Jesse back would have been a much better all round result.

Might not have just been Joe. S&C may have played a role.
