Jim Brown Incredible Game Highlight

Not as incredible as it seems- it was one-platoon football in those days. Players played both ways with no specialists.
But Paul Hornung won the 1956 Heisman based on his ethnicity - and Big Jim was pretty versatile in his own right.

I still prefer the 1956 game vs. Maryland:

Jim Brown: Syracuse vs Maryalnd, Football - September 22, 1956

FIFY.

Still one of the biggest sports travesties of all time.

Literally the only time in history a player from a losing team has won the Heisman.
Total sham.

What an athlete. Brown rarely ran out of bounds and it was unusual for one guy to tackle him. Sam Huff could do it at times. I think Brown got better with age. Thanks for the video.

Do they still show his films to undergrads who want to see them at SU. I knew who he was and that he was great I never knew how great until one film night at HBC.

Jim Brown was also the greatest actor who was previously a pro football player of all time!!!!

Truthfully, Jim was very solid, but nothing spectacular in that video.

Boy, does the game look slow compared to the modern game.
I think the film is running in slower speed, but I agree with you the game has definitely changed and gotten faster in the last 70 years.

Funniest part is every block the OL throws is a cut block at the defenders’ knees.

My ACLs were crying watching that film.

As revealed by the number of blocked who wound up on the ground shortly after the plays began.

This popped up on You-Tube. It's Jim vs. Boston U., (we used to play them instead of Boston College and they were on a similar level at the time) in 1956. He looks a lot better here than in that 1955 Maryland game and it's broken down by various skills.
