He said Kentucky took care of business today & Syracuse really didn't, saying the #1 seed needs to dominate these games.

First of all, any good analyst knows you can't compare scores of two different opponents, because there are too many variables.

Asheville is not truly a 16 seed, & Western Kentucky was probably not as good.

Seriously, why do these networks hire tools like this who are so biased, they should be doing shows for JUST the team they are supporting.

How come you never post on the humor board?

Wku had a losing record. All you need to know

I think them getting a possible UConn matchup in the second round makes up for them getting WKU in the first.

He may be an idiot, but he's right. Do you really think his comment was merely based on the score? Did you watch today's game?

Jimmy Dykes isn't biased and won't try to rationalize excuses for poor performance and coaching.

Is what it is... we move on and hopefully play better in the next round.

The point is, you could blow out an opponent in the first round, & then get beat in the second.

You could also struggle in the first round then win in the second, regardless of your seed.

The bottom line is, Syracuse has only lost 2 games all season, as has Kentucky. You are foolish to try to compare the tourney chances of either team based on the final score of a game, or even how they played. As long as you win, that is all that matters.

Dykes is WRONG, & he should be ashamed for making such foolish statements.

Any rational analyst or fan can see that even before we lost Fab the second time, the team had regressed from being a dominant team against virtually all competitors to a team that was scratching and clawing for wins against middling teams.

The good news is we got those wins in the final third of the season.

The bad news is we peaked mid-season and show no signs of now being able to play or coach that level of ball anymore.

We can win games in this tournament but it won't be on a dominant red carpet to the final 4.

We are no longer that team.

How many people think that this team can beat Kentucky? I hope Kentucky loses, but I don't think they'd lose to our guys...not the way we've been playing.

We look very average lately.

Sometimes, it's just about matchups. Kentucky would have trouble with our zone.

A light might go on with this team, & they might start playing smarter ball. Once they figured out they could just blow through the defense with dribble penetration, they started scoring baskets & getting to the foul line.

The first half they were jacking up crap & hoping for lazy scores...

Can't play that way in the tourney. Every team is good...

Kentucky would take us apart right now.
agree to disagree

we play to level of competition ... today they would have won, who knows in April?

Why are you certain about that?

Despite their offensive problems, Syracuse has the best zone defense in America. I am sure they would find a way to clamp down & keeep Kentucky from running all over them.

The biggest problem with Syracuse is mental, not physical. They have the players to win any game they are in, but if they continue to throw up lazy shots, they won't win...

It's truly in their heads...

If we had Fab, maybe Kentucky would have trouble with our zone. If the light didn't go on after Cincy, I don't think I see it happening now (I hope I'm wrong). The jacking up crap and hoping for lazy scores issue has been season long. I fear it's more than just an isolated incident and is a character flaw with this team. It was covered up early in the season when we were getting turnovers and getting out on the break, and when the "crap" falls we look good, but the larger issue is the lack of any kind of execution on offense other than repeated pick-and-rolls hoping our guards can create off of the dribble. I'd hate to see how many offensive rebounds we'd give up to Kentucky right now.

One thing that I noticed today when they were going through the list of 1 seeds that struggled against 16s - none of those 1 seeds went very far.

We didn't play like a 1 seed today. Hopefully we do on Saturday and for the rest of the tournament.

I would actually say the exact opposite. No way this team goes 32-2 without being mentally tough. It's an impossibility. I just think that there are some physical limitations (shooting the ball, being tough on the glass) that will be need to be overcome.

You have Dion & Scoop taking offbalance 17 footers every other possession, then they switch over to quick 3's with no rebounders prepared to grab the ball on a miss.

I agree, they are not the best shooting team, but the guards have an advantage over their opponents, & they can use it to get into the lanefor some easier shots & a foul shooting. The front men have to clear the lanes for this to happen more often, & this is all mental stuff...

Just looked it up, only 3 of 11 one seeds that won first round games by less than 10 points have made the final 4. Four of those teams lost in the second round. Let's buck the trend!

1 point or 20; a win is a win in the tournament. That we could have won with the chaos and kick in the crotch we received on Tuesday is good enough for me. An entire team gets thrown out of rhythm, emotionally and every other way, when one of their main cogs gets sidelined.

I'm damn happy we're moving on, irrespective of what Dykes or anyone says.
