Nah, there were a lot better players who took a lot more crap when we were winning a lot more games a season. My issue with JJ is more an issue with Red thinking he’s better than he is.

He has 100 career ACC starts and not really anything to show for it.

In the modern era from 2000 on that’s on par with how many games Triche, GMac, JG3, and Buddy played in the backcourt.

As stated above no improvement and by far the most starts of any guard in the ACC. There’s a reason he is taking heat.

JJ needs a slow down button. Incredible athlete but hasn’t figured out how to harness it. We’re better w/ him at times and w/out him other times. Weird career and player.

Our best player, Freeman, has been playing sub par the last few games.
Our PG doesn't value the ball and doesn't make shots consistently
Our most revered player's son is playing like a freshman
Our coach is severely over his head

Yet, some just want to continue piling on JJ. He gets blame even when he has a good game. The hate towards him is unbelievable.

I mostly stay away from the board during basketball season for a variety of reasons, including this one.

Every player has strengths and weaknesses. Every one of them.

Every year, a subset of the board informally picks a whipping boy. They overlook anything he does well and never fail to point out his flaws. The guy could have a great game and they will harp on a missed shot or whatever.

Conversely, they pick a heartthrob and constantly play up his strengths or good plays and totally ignore weaknesses or problems after a given game.

And they do this not only after every game but all week long, over and over and over.

This pattern on the board is as perennial as the wind
