They want to have a new HC on board in the next few days, in time for LOI day. He named 3-4 guys but said Cristobal, the FIU HC and Addazio are the 2 names at the top of the wanted list. Shad basically said it was Cristobal's job to lose. Both supposedly interviewed today.

I always felt he would be the choice.

he is a huge recruiter also ... with deep florida connections

but can he coach like shady?

Really, a back against the wall move. Due dilligence to the selection process be damned. May be a little too late for RU to keep some from deserting, but what else can they do? Both coaches are nice choices under the circumstances. Christobal was a bridesmaid at Pitt, he won't be at RU. Who knows, now maybe we flip Owens back;)

Lets hope he can coach as poorly as Shady. Thats the only thing that was holding them back.

If they hire Cristobal, I think they've upgraded the head coaching position there.

So he will do the FIU recruits dirty? Messed up world.

It doesn't matter who they hire, they're left behind in a dead conference. Who ever it is better enjoy playing San Diego State, Boise State, Southern Methodist, Houston, Navy, and UCF every year.

i have to say it's fun to watch because anyone who takes it knows that the conference is dead and they have no chance of competing with the big boys. will be intresting

Well, he coached with Schiano at Rutgers 2001-03. Not sure if that was enough to contaminate him.

At this point, he would be a very good hire for Rutgers. He has a reputation as an excellent recruiter with deep ties in Florida.

Oh I know ... I fear his recruiting abilities ...I am hoping he coaches like schiano

I doubt Doug would take him back, given prior history...

Sounds like they will have someone by the end of the weekend. I wonder if they are offering Schiano's house as a deal sweetener.

Cristobol is very shady like but probable won't graduate kids like schiano did. Great recruiter in Florida for sure but jersey? Who knows

Just found this on tos:

Football recorded its highest multi-year APR score, registering a 936 in this year's report, 30 points better than last year's score. Since the arrival of Head Coach Mario Cristobal, the football team's multi-year APR score has improved by 51 points (885 prior to Head Coach Cristobal). Under Coach Cristobal, the football team has worked its way above the 925 multi-year APR mark and out of penalty (projected to take five to six years) in only three years.

They're also claiming he's in jersey today.

I said Steve Addazio from the start, but either coach would be a great get for NJU. They will be probably get around $6-7 mil/year.

Doesn't matter who they hire, they are in a dead conference and once the "new" big east is formed it will be difficult to recruit top kids in the northeast against teams like PSU, ND, BC, Pitt, and SU who are in major conference (or in ND's case just a major brand).

In all the talk about Schiano the past few days it has been brought up over and over that he sent lots of kids to the NFL. Well, being in a BCS conference that was possible. The New Big East will make that more difficult for Rutgers to keep recruiting those types of kids whoever takes over. The entire situation they are in is beyond horrible. And location wise doesn't help them much either being surrounded by similar schools who are in far better situations.

They will? That means Schiano just took a pay cut to go to the NFL! LOL. Hell if Rutgers is offering to make someone one of the highest paid coaches in all of sports (NFL, MLB, NBA,NHL, NCAA) they won't have to settle for Adazzo or Christobol. They could get Cowher, Gruden, or Parcells for that kind of money! LOL

I doubt they will get close to that much or anywhere near that.

Does that include the IROC-Z in the garage?

Based on public documents (NJU = state school), Schiano made around $2.25M per year. Don't know if that is before or after incentives, TV money, etc.

My guess is you are looking at paying these guys no more than shady and most likely less for Cristobol. I would guess 1.5-2 lands him
