John Beilein's son

It'd be interesting to see how long he would stick around for. He already had a DII job that he only stayed in for two years. Obviously a lot of coaches use DII jobs as stepping stones, so you wouldn't expect him to stick around too long. Must not have liked the pro route he was on.

DII is a tough coaching gig. You are able to give schollies to ten kids but you have to find diamonds in the rough on an extremely limited recruiting budget. Plus you don't make a lot of money. A lot of coaches stay in the same position for a while because it's safe. Safe for them and for the school, as long as you recruit good kids.

Why not, if he learned half of what his dad knows about bball, its a great hire.

Exactly. Well In the NE-10 you get 10 scholarships because it is one of the better D2 leagues. Other leagues they don't have the type of scholarship money cause they are not funded as well. Getting a coaching job in the NE-10 is a step above his WVWC job. I actually was getting recruited by Pat Beilein at WVWC but prepped instead. I Think he could do great at Le Moyne cause the NE-10 style of play suits the way he recruits. But like a previous poster said, it would be interesting to see how long he actually stayed.

There's another Bielien that's an starting to make a name for himself. I played college ball with his nephew Billy Bielien. He coaches at Niagra Community College now, and has been amassing a pretty good record. He was a GA on the WVU team that made the run with Pittsnogle. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make it to the D1 level eventually.

I think his father would be a great fit at SU. I have to believe having his son at LeMoyne wouldn't hurt us in that regard at some point down the line.
