Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse defensive tackle John Raymon, who missed the second half of last season after suffering a severe knee injury, is continuing his rehab this summer but might not be available for the 2014 season.

"It will be a longshot," Syracuse coach Scott Shafer said Wednesday. "We're trying to take it day by day. I think that's the healthiest way to approach it."

more worried about the rest of his career. can he get a medical redshirt?

Unknown.

The NCAA has been know to grant a player a 6th year of eligibility when he had to miss two different seasons due to serious injuries.

In Raymond's case he redshirted in 2011 at Iowa, he had to miss 2012 due to transfer regulations, and 2014 due to the knee injury (maybe). Only one of his three lost seasons was due to injury.

He would have to appeal that he was forced to miss 2012 due to NCAA regs, and maybe the NCAA does right by him.

This kid not only deserves one but is due one from the NCAA, but he is not at a top program and didn't steal anything or cause any major issues so probably won't happen. :bat::crazy::bang:couchburn:mad::confused::noidea::(

i'm scared to play GT again. Going to keep happening the way they play.
Normally I wouldn't say this but I would like to see us single out the folks who injured him and run at/over them all day long.
