He can’t shoot the 3 and his TS% is only 49 pct this past year. For reference Sadiq was 56 pct. Folefac was 57 pct. All Carey does is eat up space and rebound at a decent clip. Otherwise he’s just an inefficient player on offense and not at all a rim protector on D. There is a reason he’s only been a 20 mpg or less guy his whole college career.

I don't think we'll ultimately get him, but there's a big man that we've reached out to that I think is kinda flying under the radar that I would personally love to get. Seems like he's viewed more as the first big off the bench but I think he's more than that personally.

If we had a solid rotation of bigs (including the man of mystery) that can do multiple things and not one alpha where we then go spend big at PG and a backup like Dual I have no issue with that. Getting Sadiq back was big just as adding Folefac will be to go with the Aussie big. If you can steal Peter or Gilhool as deep bench guys for depth then you’ve got a full crew for practice and emergency depth.

I think we might end up with a PG who is good defensively and can run the offense, but is not a good outside shooter.

If that happens, we need another outside scooter or two. Fielder would help here.

I suspect Doty and White are going to be around 35% from 3 as well. Add Fielder and things look a lot better offensively.

There will be pressure on Morano to be a reliable outside shooter and I dislike that. But he appears to be the real deal and I think we will be far more effective setting picks and getting guys open for outside shots with GMac coaching.

If not Fielder, we need someone else who can shoot from the outside. Someone established. I think a stretch 4 makes the most sense (assuming we can’t get a PG who can shoot the 3 well).

MMM not being just a shooter is important in this discussion too. If we don’t get a PG that lights it up from 3 I don’t disagree with Fielder as a stretch 5 in a rotation of bigs vs a 30 mpg guy. Getting Sadiq back opens the door a lot for different options for a big which certainly helps. Without Sadiq you have to figure out the 4 spot and that doesn’t change should Folefac have already formally announced.

Gilhool is not ready for a main role but I do think he could be a solid backup big who can stretch the floor. We'll see.

Not quite equivalent. Everyone had Yaxel in the Big 10 POY discussion before the season. And Mara came from UCLA, not exactly a mid-major. Some people here remember the enthusiasm for Carlos, Davis and Taylor and are simply suggesting caution.
