After the Buffalo game from a couple of years ago I do not think coach would take anyone from that squad. Coach was pretty angry with the antics.Let’s not even talk about it because we all know it’ll be pointless.

Here is the minute distribution IMO.Only people who may have been promised minutes are Mintz (guarantee starting spot), Taylor or Bunch. The rest are non starters.
You can find minutes for Taylor & Bunch and add Mballa, if you thought they were good enough to warrant the promise upon recruitment.
Brown's 10 minutes should go back to distribution. JBA's 5 minutes as well. Edwards will play 32-35 minutes per game pending foul trouble. Mballa would play the remaining 5-8, plus start at PF.
C - Edwards - 35, Mballa? JBA? - 5
PF - Mballa - 30, Williams - 10
SF - Williams - 20, Bunch - 15, Taylor - 5
SG - Girard - 33, Taylor - 5
PG - Mintz - 30, Torrence - 10
There's your 8 with versatility. Brown or Copeland could be your 8.5, with JBA an emergency option at C with foul trouble.
If you don't add an experienced forward to this roster, it's going to be a VERY inexperienced group and my fear is it will be worse than last year.
Only issue with this is there's no way Jesse is going to stay out of foul trouble enough to average 38 a game. Here is the minute distribution IMO.
C - Edwards - 38, Someone else 2
PF - Williams - 35, Maliq 5
SF - bunch - 30, Taylor - 10
SG - Girard - 39, someone else 1
PG - Mintz - 35, Torrence, 5
IMO that SF distro will be more like Taylor 18, Bunch 14, Benny 8 (Benny splitting time something like 27/8 between the PF/SF spots)Here is the minute distribution IMO.
C - Edwards - 38, Someone else 2
PF - Williams - 35, Maliq 5
SF - bunch - 30, Taylor - 10
SG - Girard - 39, someone else 1
PG - Mintz - 35, Torrence, 5
We may wind up with that roster, but 30 minutes for a frosh at SF is asking for disaster. Optimistically assuming we get Mballa (or a senior/GT at that level), the minutes might distribute like this:IMO that SF distro will be more like Taylor 18, Bunch 14, Benny 8 (Benny splitting time something like 27/8 between the PF/SF spots)
Agreed on Jesse. I'd also guess more Taylor than Bunch. Also don't see any way Benny could play 35 per game for same reason as Jesse. I also agree with djcon about JG3. My original post was "how they could do it" not how I thought they'd do it. Only way JG3 plays less than 33 mpg is if Sy or Quadir step up and provide something Joe doesn't. Regardless Mballa would improve this team.Only issue with this is there's no way Jesse is going to stay out of foul trouble enough to average 38 a game.
Otherwise, I know it's somewhat tongue in cheek, but this is probably a lot closer to how it'll play out than what some other people have masterminded.
Think the someone else at C right now is Carey. He is 220 not a stick figure.IMO that SF distro will be more like Taylor 18, Bunch 14, Benny 8 (Benny splitting time something like 27/8 between the PF/SF spots)
#lapIf they were going after the FSU center from the portal, why not Mballa who's tape looks way more athletic?
Torrence play about 20 minutesHere is the minute distribution IMO.
C - Edwards - 38, Someone else 2
PF - Williams - 35, Maliq 5
SF - bunch - 30, Taylor - 10
SG - Girard - 39, someone else 1
PG - Mintz - 35, Torrence, 5
If Torrance plays 20 and Joe plays, say, 35.Torrence play about 20 minutes
Bunch and Taylor will 50/50
No Joe plays less then 35If Torrance plays 20 and Joe plays, say, 35.
You think Mintz plays 25?
No Chance.
I'll believe it when I see it. Remember, last year there were posts suggesting Sy was gonna play 15-20 mins as wellNo Joe plays less then 35
Mballa would be a game changer imo. But if there is any truth to the "promise of PT" to the freshman it would take a concerted effort by the coaches to make it happen. But they could do it if they wanted.
C - Jesse -30, JBA - 5, Maliq - 5
PF - Mballa - 28, Benny - 7, Maliq - 5
SF - Benny - 20, Taylor - 8, Bunch - 12
2G - JG3 - 28, Mintz - 5, Taylor - 7
PG - Mintz - 20, Symir - 15, Q - 5
Lots of problems with this I know:
- That's 9 players getting at least 10 min per game. It may be required even without Mballa with a team this young and inexperienced. Coach would need to change his philosophy...a lot.
- Leaves Carey out completely and only 5 minutes each for Quadir and JBA.
- Doesn't solve at all the backup C issue. But gives us 3 very athletic forwards that could support the lack of a C with 3 Guard lineups or even 3 Forward lineups. Mballa, Benny and Maliq could probably hold their own against all but the tallest and best C.
- Does 10, 12 and 15 keep Brown, Bunch and Taylor happy and here?
- Token minutes for Q. My personal opinion is he pushes for PT that Taylor, Bunch and Symir want.
need a 5. with sizeIf they were going after the FSU center from the portal, why not Mballa who's tape looks way more athletic?
(to be more precise - a backup center that takes little to no work recruiting)#lap
We need a proven good starting forward more than a backup C. IMO.need a 5. with size
mballa would be a good get but not having a backup center would be a serious liability and 3 forward lineups are not the way to go...dont people remember a few years ago with marek at center and how bad that was?????????
that said the team needs a C and a ...
what happens if edwards is unable to play ?We need a proven good starting forward more than a backup C. IMO.
If this was 10 years ago, I would trust that JB knew that Benny and a freshman would both be studs.
But that level of confidence has been torpedoed by Kaleb Joseph and Jalen Carey.
Same thing that happened last year? Someone will play, and we will suck.what happens if edwards is unable to play ?
just forfeit?
