Just my humble opinion...

If Davis claimed abuse & then had ESPN & the PS investigate and find no corroboration, then the BSK investigation would've likely stopped at Davis, Roach, & his 4 "collaborating victims".
BSK likely looked over the PS & ESPN reports as part of their general investigation, & determined his claims were bogus.
I mean, how many times do you ask the same questions, get the same answers, & yet keep on asking, until you get the answer you're fishing for?

Only an idiot would do that...oh, wait- see; Schartz, Mark- OTL. ;)

the DA and the SPD can go back and forth on this forever. What Syracuse University Basketball fans need to be most interested in, is what is contained in the Bond, Schoeneck & King report that was performed back in 2005(?). The rest is white noise.

Exactly. Let the DA and SPD continue their quest for 15 minutes that is humiliating the city. Just don't drag SU into it if SU did everything the right way.

Lastly, Moqui, I disagree w/your last paragraph. I do not see any situation where there were lingering doubts so the school told JB to decide what to do. The school would not conduct an extensive investigation, find that there was at least some real concern that this may have possibly happened, and then simply hand the decision to JB to decide whether to take any action.
I would revise my initial statement to mean that JB would have certainly been involved in any decision if the middle option was the case . . . the point being that he either knows the report largely cleared Bernie because the higher ups said "no problem," or he would have had to read it in the middle scenario.

Just spoke with someone from BS&K (full disclosure-family member who just arrived for turkey). To my surprise, the report, although of high quality, may not have been that extensive. After the initial interviews there was no support found for the claims made by Davis. Apparently it would be considered damaging to the reputation of the accused to interview large number of potential victims (i.e. ask dozens of kids if Fine had sexual interactions with them), such that once it appears that the accusations were false the investigation was curtailed. This is in contrast to a police hotline that can ask the general public to call in regardless of the damage this action would have on the accused.
if they billed for 4 months and that is all they did, then maybe SU has a claim against them . . . I know they would have had to have been discreet, but you can question ball boys about their time with the team without mentioning BF's name, it isn't that hard to figure out ways to do this discreetly. no offense, but I am skeptical of your info.

Your skepticism is fair and welcome. I am not privy to what is in the report, but was replying to Jake who posted he is curious about the BS&K report. My response is specific to the number of potential victims interviewed. I don't necessarily agree with the justification for limited child interviews myself but am passing on solid info.

orangeion, looks like I owe you an apology. your info was indeed solid.

I might end up owing Davis and Lang an apology, too. Well, not them personally since they are likely unaware of me or of my opinions about them, but an apology to the universe for so forcefully declaiming them.

I am definitely on my heels . . . I had staked my certainty in this case on the fact of the BSK report. A colleague of mine has worked with BSK in the past, and assured me that they were the absolute best at what they do, that a four month investigation by them would have been thorough, and if SU had done nothing after receiving that report then there was probably nothing to worry about. You raised doubts about that, but I remained skeptical. As I wrote above, I was wrong to doubt you.

That being said, I am still unclear what is going on here. Davis still feels like a troubled person and likely a grifter of some sort to me - his surreptitious taping, the rumored affair with Laurie Fine, not releasing the tape, etc - this is definitely odd behavior. The tape itself is problematic - is it real, or has it been manipulated, as Laurie Fine claimed? In any case, it is not dispositive - he tries very hard to get Mrs. Fine to come right out and say things, but she always comes up just short. Whether he was actually abused or not, Davis has definitely tried to leverage this situation for something other than simple justice and a concern for the truth.

The third accuser is more troublesome. He definitely has a motive to lie - to distract from his own legal troubles and perhaps try to earn a deal that favors himself. Plus, his own father calls him a liar. But, it is a lot more difficult for me to dismiss this all now, especially given that the BSK report that I was leaning on may actually have been a slapped together piece of worthlessness.

All of the sudden, regardless of how this turns out legally, I now believe that this may be JB's final season. What a ty way to go.
