Just sayin

OSU with a drop in QB play and good talent still struggled to score much of the year.
This is why Rickie deserved PT against UNC and BC. Miami made a Heisman candidate with top receivers and a sturdy OL look pedestrian. If Rickie was good enough to start against Miami, no reason to not give him UNC, ND, and BC also. Fine to start Carney against UNC just to try something new for a spark and give him a chance (and take some pressure off of Rickie). And to give plenty of PT to Carney/Filardi against ND and BC if/when Rickie faltered.

Rickie wasn't good enough to start against Miami. He wasn't good enough to start against anyone. He was just the next guy in line because we didn't have anyone better.

Put the bottle down.

Whatever. He was a terrible QB… but I don’t see the fairness in benching him for UNC and starting him against Miami. He was bad, but not as bad as what we rolled out there in his place
Fairness? Is this pop warner? He earned a spot on the bench. Were the other guys any better? Nope. It doesn't mean he deserved to start any other games. Maybe Fran did it to shut the fans up. Maybe he did it to just throw something against the wall to see if it stuck. Regardless, "fairness" had no place in the equation and it didn't need to.

I think Fran reacted to fan unrest and wavered from what he knew - that nobody on the bench was any better than Rickie, who could at least sling it.
I fully believe that, And honestly the first couple of games we had several drives that literally stalled and crushed his confidence RC. Then he continues to throw interceptions, and I believe Fran felt he needed to do something but there was no viable alternative and many on this board even in this thread literally stated he had to do something. Then when he attempted they went back and stated what is stated in this thread Maybe he should have never been replaced I think it is utter hypocrisy, but seriously Fran should not cave to people who know little to nothing. Just my thoughts and it was devastating. Literally to the entire team. We could not even run the ball. We better get multiple and I believe if we truly galvanize the team, We will be OK if he continues to recruit. Please support I ask everybody and I trust Syracuse players literally never read these boards because it is toxic, Good old upstate New York dinosaur toxicity. Make it good and speak goodness out of your mouth with a solution. Not ridiculous borderline prejudicial mindsets. And don't be getting all color on me I know these things. coming from a country white boy himself. A lot more to winning than winning itself. Otherwise programs like Syracuse are done. Please support the program and be positive for the sake of goodness. I believe Ben did at a very volatile time and that is 50 years prior to my time. Big picture brothers get behind the Cuse. I have seen so many brothers who literally we're never ever going to get a sniff from the NFL maybe long shots in relation to free agent routes if they so choose who literally obtained high level degrees and are living real well with families. I relate and this is what Syracuse does for the vast majority some will make it to higher levels most will not. We many more will and certainly many have but the mission is for the entire student athlete especially in a very turbulent time. Life changing with literally massive lifelong, familial, generational and certainly societal impact yes!!!!

Central NY fans are no different than fans anywhere - impatient, uninformed but highly opinionated. Every coach gets criticized and second-guessed. As the saying goes, "If you listen to the fans too much, you'll end up sitting in the stands with them."

I agree with this to a point, I however have lived in multiple places since my graduation from Syracuse and the fan support at other places with similar records or near close is way higher that ours. Not just down south, but it certainly is there as well as the Midwest. This is literally a one ticket show in town. Concerning basketball, we were definitely spoiled for a long time with a good rhythm. That got crushed because someone stayed much too long and certainly was allowed to. Nevertheless we need the Fairweather fans to support this place like diehards in order to be successful. Just my belief though
