And all of us diehards, the players, the staff, the entire community will feel better about Syracuse Football moving forward this season. The emotion that runs amongst us is truly mercurial and it will quickly change if we can put together a stellar performance.

This board is way more enjoyable when we win. I still have faith in Babers & Co to get the job done.

Win. That's all. Get to 2-1 heading into LSU.

I hope that we are at least 3-3 coming to the Clemson game.. Winning this game makes that much easier and still leaves hope for 4-2.

i consider this game a 3 foot putt for our football team. If we have the yips we could miss it again. But any reasonable score will need this one center cup. After next week's LSU scrimmage, we will embark on the real schedule of what our team really is.

Central Michigan went on the road and beat Kansas last week (I know it's Kansas, but it's still a P5 team on the road). They're a legitimate opponent who I think we probably beat 7 out of 10 times at home (similar to MTSU). Meaning, if we make stupid mistakes and don't execute, we'll lose the game.

A loss Saturday would be devastating for this program in terms of public perception and morale.

I think we win something like 37-24.

A loss to Central Michigan straight up will make me question Dino Babers full stop. You cannot lose to non P5 teams 2x in a row at home.

agree completely. This game is a test of the players and the staff to get refocused after the MTSU/Shafer circus of last weekend. Our already fleeting bowl hopes will be beyond dead if we don't win this game.

According to Bill Connelly, we had a 76% chance of beating MTSU. We have an 80% chance of beating CMU.

And, a um.. 9% chance of beating LSU next week.

I wouldn't say "just win" really covers it. I think we need to win somewhat comfortably.

Honestly, nothing else matters but a win. People won't remember this game in 1 week if we only won by a FG. They will be beside themselves if we're 1-2 and calling for Dino's head. Big difference.

2-1 > 1-2. No such thing as style points.

Open up the playbook and put 40+ on the board

I agree, they should simply open. up. the. playbook. Did they bring the playbook to the game? All I see are poster boards with emojis on them being held by coordinators. Tecmo Bowl had more elaborate game plans. I see it across college football so i have no idea if it's a long lasting trend or not. The NFL doesn't use it.

Last week had the feel of a backyard football game where one team had all the athletes and no plan and the other team the opposite.

You're probably laying it on a little thick. We lost by 7. We dropped a few balls and missed a few chances to score.

I always dig the "but more complicated the playbook is, the better it is" arguement when we have years of absolute proof in raw data that's not always true - especially, especially with college football. Some of the most dynamic offenses of the last 10 years had simplified ways to get the calls into the O.

Also, in the NFL they can get the play to the QB through his helmet.

of course i am. I'm being hyperbolic. But i do stand by my questioning of the play calling in that game. I mean the George DeLeone Cheesecake Factory menu of plays was crazy for sure but I felt like Syracuse wasn't running plays at all in that last game.

Again, i'm being super sarcastic and having a bit of fun w the poster boards but i'm legit concerned with what i've seen so far this year. Seems very gimmicky so far. Time will tell. I hope i'm 1,000,000,000% wrong mind u.

Got ya.

I think when we signed on for Babers ball, you go in married to the system. Plus, I don't think it's that simple... I think it looks simple due to the way they get the calls in. They also smartly return to plays that work until you can stop them. Outside of the running game (ug) - it works pretty well. Same play was run vs Pitt because they couldn't stop it. In the NFL there's more time for contingency plans, the players have one job and can learn more. But it all looks like our system is simple.

For me, Shafer got into the heads of the players way more than what we'd care to believe. Time to show that the lessons are learned. Kick some butt. Win this game.

No doubt, they acted that way before during and after the game. No Shafer in the booth this week go out and take these punks out. Meanwhile, Shafer has another vendetta game against Minnesota this week but can't get into the heads of Minnesota players who have no connection to him, just Shafer vs Coyle, should be interesting

Forget the game. Just make it a steel cage match.

This offense is not simple. Full stop. It's nearly impossible to defend it in a way that's fundamentally sound. The tiniest details matter and with evenly matched personnel are often the difference between making a stop and giving up a massive chunk if not a touchdown.

Right. I think there's a feeling that because the playbook isn't traditional, the way we get calls looks simple, and we run some of the same plays over and over again - that there's not much to it. And that is 100% not true.

How DARE you call us in mercurial! I challenge you to a duel!

Never mind, I'm too depressed.

If there was anything SIMPLY about winning, we'd win every week, no?
