Just some quick thoughts...,

I hope this season doesn't turn into the last 10 games of last year, where teams want to play SU in the most boring way possible and hold the ball for 30 seconds every possession and force SU to play in a half court set 40x a game. After ND, eeeeeevvveryyyonneeee played that way against Cuse.

umm, that's how pretty much all of our seasons end.

If anyone wants sealskin and seal fur lined beaded low cut mocassins for XMAS presents I can get them for less than $250. They come from an Arctic Villages where the people only kill seals for food and in limited numbers as they are subsistence communities much as they have been forever. They don't eat cow meat. I can post a photo as I just bought a pair as a XMAS gift. The Natives love to trade. Price would be flexible depending on number ordered. Would love it if they could be dyed orange. They are warm and cozy.

Have you ever had baby seal veal? it's delicious
Actually, seal is not delicious. I stored one in my freezer, Native subsistence caught, for a friend. Very strong oily flavor.

He's a real baby seal that was washed up onto my beach three years ago, battered and bruised and more dead than alive.
you should see the other guy

He found CJ a few times but CJ fumbled it. Doesn't look confident enough (or maybe quick enough) in the lane lately.
Yeah, I'm hoping CJ just is not quite "into" it yet, and will come to life soon. He hasn't been very good yet, especially with his shooting and TOs.

Someone in some recent thread was speculating that CJ may be nursing some sort of injury and playing at less than 100%. Would not surprise me if true, as Waiters, Triche and Joseph certainly played through nagging injuries last season.

Also, I have nothing to say about seals.

Defense, too. Fell asleep on a couple alley-oops; if EMU's players could catch, it would have been more of a problem. Dunno what the story is with Fair; after re-watching the game just now, I'm struck by how shaky he was. A newcomer could be forgiven for thinking he's the freshman and Grant is the junior.

On the negative side, lots of TO's .. very sloppy, poor movement against a pretty decent zone. Also, why JB didn't set up some screens for JS, rather than watch him jack contested shots? And instead of JS and CJ flashing (which didn't happen often or effectively), why not have Rak flash up there? He and DC can both run the H-L and they're easier to get the ball to cleanly.

On the plus side, MCW and BT took over when they had to. Grant looked super smooth. DC is starting to carve out position down low to receive the pass (the good news). Unfortunately, he didn't get too many passes (the bad news). I thought Rak had a bad game, but you look at his stats, and even for a subpar game - 6 pts, 6rbs, 3 blocks and 2 steels (against 1 TO) in 21 minutes.

Surprised by that, too. Don't know that Christmas has the green light to shoot from the high post, but one of the great untapped abilities of this team is the high-low with Coleman and Christmas.

Did think that Christmas made a couple nice passes from the baseline in the second half.

For those who don't know the background about my baby seal... He's a real baby seal that was washed up onto my beach three years ago, battered and bruised and more dead than alive. After three months of seal rehab at Mystic Aquarium, he was released back into the ocean. In this picture, he is exiting the cat carrier that took him back to the ocean.
CTO, very cute and a great story to boot. Back when I lived in Branford prior to moving to Florida I would fish in the Sound pretty much all year except when it was bitterly cold. I lived in the Stony Creek section of Branford and would fish out among the Thimble Islands. Outer Island is... well the outermost island of the Thimbles and from November on I would see seals on outer island pretty much every time I took my boat out fishing. Most people are not aware that seals make it as far south as Long Island Sound. I've always wondered about your Avitar, thanks for sharing that story.

I would think it will work better with James at the high post, because he shoots so well from that spot

Probably. I think he was up there when Rakeem was on the baseline. That was the best we looked all night in the half-court. Hope it's not the last time we see that.

good game for cooney. managed to raise his trey % from a mere 17 to a lofty 18 %. but remember he was recruited mainly as a defensive specialist. or so i've read anyways...

(never tried said seal but a well marinated manatee is quite tasty on the barbie.)

I was happy with the ending (happy ending) and impressed with the freshmen, particularly Grant who I hadn't seen much of to date.

On a side note, how is the EMU mascot not the Emu?

Hope we figure out the zone. More teams are using them than ever, it seems. Georgetown plays a ton of zone this year, and seem to be doing it well, which makes me want to vomit.

Cuseguy, one of the many good posters on this forum, lives in Branford. Did you know him? There are a few of us CT folks here... among them, Scooch, Black Knight, Hungry Chuck, Demo, etc. I never knew there were seals here... until that little guy washed up on my beach.

The new Dino in Stamford opens tomorrow (or today, I guess). We need to get a Connecticut poster pow-wow together.

Watching our team be impotent against our very own zone was like being devoured by our own young.
I agree. It seems to me like we are pretty weak against almost every EVERY zone we face. Shouldn't we just be able to do like Pitino's teams do and move it into the high post to James or CJ and then let them either shoot, drive or dump low to a cutting wing? I saw them do that maybe two or three times against EM.
