The backup QB comes in and throws one nice pass and all of a sudden he should have started all year and oh boy we would have won the last two games with him and we would be 5-2 and oh what a great QB he is . The same people that think Dungey should have been picked over Daniel Jones lol.

Ill make a fearless easy prediction. If he starts next week against Florida State and now that there is actual film in a game on him that teams can really see what he actually does we will lose by a minimum of 40 points. There is a reason he is a walk on QB backup that had never played before.

Its a nice Rudy Story and he might be better than the holy Cross QB but against teams with superior athletes he will be exposed.

He wasn't a walk on, he was a JUCO transfer. And many walk on's in college have been outstanding, I think Mayfield walked on?.. Devito's out, it's Welch's turn. And they're going to win that game at FSU.

I don’t understand this post.

What’s the point at taking shots at our backup QB? And Dungey to boot?

Our +\- was better with him last night. We may not have an option.

Not saying Welch should have started in September, but he added some life that was missing in the first half. Had some luck, made some plays, led the team in rushing. There wasn’t a better option than what he provided. Next week and beyond — well, we are likely to see mix and match, maybe more wildcat. It won’t be pretty.

this is an all-timer from Couscous

It wasn't pretty with Welch, but he did move the ball and score points. TD is hurt, and gun shy, and whatever else is going on with his body and in his head. The Oline isn't getting better. Kill TD or Welch... that's the options.

he was taking a shot at the people who are claiming that we’d be 5-2 with him

I don't think we're going to beat anyone except possibly BC with Welch starting, but in fairness it was more than just that one long pass. He ran the ball very well.

I will say that he looked for wide receivers that Devito hadn’t all season. Taj was consistently beating his guy. He tried to throw guys open and he scanned the field better.

My take on DeVito is that he is mentally and physically rattled and has lost some of his confidence/swagger from the beating he's had to endure. Instead of being able to stand in the pocket and go through his progressions downfield, his attention is on the pocket collapsing around him and the need to scramble for his life. In many instances he's been swarmed under before he is even set to throw.
I'm reminded of the similar impact our pass rush had on Tom Savage (who went on to be a 4th round draft pick).

On the other extreme, the reason Tom Brady is so successful is that he is rarely touched. It's well-known, even among Patriots fans, that when he is rushed/hit, his effectiveness goes way down.

calling Chance Amie, calling Chance Amie...
oh what could have been

In all seriousness his style is what we need/could use behind this incompetent line
Chance would have definitely helped...but his actions off the field left the staff zero choice. He was asked to move on.

Giants fans know that well.

Yeah... Amie leaving is looking pretty rough right now.

But this is Syracuse so it was expected...
