Justin Taylor transferring to JMU

BS

Without Benny and when Brown had to move to the middle, Red had exactly one choice who was strong enough to sort of guard opposing 4’s when playing man. And that was Taylor.

Cope? Give me a break. He can guard other guards. He can guard a 3. He was eaten alive defensively against 4’s.

Red threw Justin out there and hoped that his offense would improve. It didn’t but Red saw enough in practice to think it was worth a shot.

So the students had a crush on Q and took out their frustration not on Red, but on a kid who didn’t want to play the 4 in the first place but was doing what he was asked to try and help the team.

If you want to give someone heat, give it to the coach. As an alum, the students embarrassed me with their classless display against our own player. -them.

All the best to Justin and hope he has a great finish to his career at JMU.
That's exactly what I said in my previous post -- that the staff did him a disservice by continuing to start him

Many of these college players make more money playing a sport they love, than many fans make working a job they hate. It's a different dynamic now. They're professionals paid by the fans and will have to cope with the criticism if they don't perform their job. No one is forcing them to do it and most would switch places with them.

And I felt awful that JT was booed and hated that it happened and felt horrible about his reaction to it. But you have to be realistic about what we're talking about.
I doubt Taylor's NIL was very sizeable.

Justin Taylor finished the year at JMU averaging 1.8 pts a game in 10 mins a game.

The stat that blew me off my chair...

For the season, he was 0 for 4 from 3.

4 attempts for the season!

What the hell happened to this kid. He was like 40% from 3 2 years ago.

I'm not sure if loosing his shot was more due to bulking up too much or if it was more mentally between his ears but it's really too bad to see a nice kid struggle this much.

He was either told not to shoot any 3's this year or he just has lost all confidence he can make that shot.

That's wild, but it's also wild that he played more as a freshman and sophomore at Syracuse than he did as a junior at JMU.

Wasn’t he hurt all year this year and played through it?

If the old Taylor got all of the new Taylor's minutes, we win 20+ games.

if he can’t shoot a 3 with a hurt wrist, why play?

No disagreement I just know I posted about his lack of productivity and I see Cherie chimed in above(as before when I asked ) and that’s what I was referencing. Anyone catch any JMU games?

He started at PF over Maliq from the start of the season ... and started all games. He hasn't taken a three at JMU since December 29th when they played a D2(?) team and only took 13 FGA the rest of the way.

Strange turn.

I believe part of why he started ahead of Maliq last season was because Maliq was a little hobbled when the year began, and Red wanted to reward a guy that set the right tone in terms of work to get ready for the season.

I remember someone saying Taylor got the talk when Red took over, but convinced Red that he'd bust his tail if allowed back, and came through on that end. It just didn't materialize into the level of play you'd hope for.

red overvalues personality BIG TIME in player eval

not saying its not important...but it cant be the only thing he looks at

Red is completely clueless on player evaluations. This is a guy that tried to build a roster around Chris Bell.
