Kadary's minutes

The hyperbole over Kadary’s talents is absurd. He was a promising player on a mediocre team in a down year for the ACC. He wasn’t the second coming of Michael Jordan, or someone who could take over a game and score in bunches. I’m not a savant but to me his quote suggests he didn’t want to play a complicated defense. Fair enough, for years the point has been made that the zone doesn’t help you get to the NBA.
Boeheim has won over 1k games, been to multiple Final Fours, won a national and several Olympic titles. He’s got some warts but the brickbats being thrown today (which by the way totally ignore the impact of COVID on the team and individual players) are just crazy.

Noted. You’ll see.

I think Kadary should have played more but I believe it sucking it up and making it impossible to leave you on the bench.

He played well enough this year to make it impossible to leave him on the bench, then Boeheim did it anyway.

Once his name hit the portal I am done with him. Move on and focus on what can be done to make Cuse better.

What can be done to make 'Cuse better? How about having a head coach fully committed to recruiting and retaining the best talent possible?

yep he shouldn't have expected more. I also noticed a lot of these kids in this range are transferring. Hard to keep everyone happy
Are you actually saying Kadary shouldn't have expected more minutes? If in fact I am, you have lost your damn mind. Your post could be nominated for worst post of the year, next to Hulk's handful of winners.

Was bored and had a look at the minutes for recruits rated somewhat comparably to Kadary in the 24* ratings. From what I can see and anyone who looks rationally, Kadary got more minutes than most and far more than those closer to his #89 rating. Draw what ever conclusion you want but kadary played plenty. If he wanted a guaranteed 35+ minutes then good luck elsewhere.

Nice work! That’s def eye opening. JB should have handed this to Kadary during their meeting. Lol. Of course the old man should’ve then said, don’t worry, as long as you work hard in the off-season, you’ll be the starting PG and given the keys next season and play 30+ mpg.

Don't forget, his average minutes is skewed a bit by the games Buddy Boeheim missed. His average MPG in games where the backcourt was at full strength was lower than the 21.0. I don't know how much lower, but certainly lower.

14 games playing 20 or more, another 10 between 15 and 19.

The other four, 9 vs Bryant, 6 vs Gtown, 10 vs NCSt in the ACC Tourney, and 14 vs WVU.

Not exactly the profile of a guy glued to the bench and looking over his shoulder.

But they’re also skewed lower by his injury late in the season, which reduced how much JB could play him. He was visibly limping against Clemson and in the ACC tourney and told the trainer before one of the games that he didn’t think he could even play. He would have played more at the end of the season if not for the tendinitis.

When you’re talking about someone’s future and potential millions of dollars then it is an issue, especially when anybody with eyes, a computer, and common sense can see who should be starting and getting the much higher amount of minutes.

You know one thing Joe apparently didn't have, tendonitis.

Just maybe that had something to do with the decision making process.

And yet when Joe played 29 or more minutes SU was 11-2.

26 or less 7-8.

I guess when he played more they won in spite of him.
Joe should have played only about 20 minutes a game, at most. What are the stats on that? A few of you guys are so stubborn on your takes it reminds of an old coach who seems past his time.

I thought the object was to win, one data point shows they win at a higher percentage with Joe playing 30

Guess we should’ve kept him around 8 minutes a game. Jim did Kadary a huge favor. What a nice guy.
I wouldn't call it a favor; I'd call it coaching. It's undoubtedly what he needed.

He'll appreciate it in 10 years or so, if not in say October

Noted. You’ll see.
Let's lay some markers then.

What will we see? All-conference? NBA top-ten pick?

(Obviously we won't know if he would have reached those same highs here - I suspect yes)

I keep reading that Joe should have given up his minutes as soon as Kadary earned the job by being better by a "very, very wide margin" ... which is weird to say with such conviction, if the guy making the decision is a better D1 coach than you by larger margin.

“Top 10”...he can be a lot less than that and still be our best NBA prospect since Grant. Unfortunately not ours anymore.

I’ll go with : better NBA career than anyone on our roster this season or next season.

Id bite on all conference, but I have never quite trusted them to not be stupid ever since Troy Bell got Big East player of the year over Carmelo.
